I faced a similar dilemma several months ago... I am sure I'll eventually have both, but until then, I'm extremely happy with my Caly 3. As others have said, I think your intended use will effect which one will be "better" for you, but some of the more significant differences to me are:

Thanks! Now I see there's a "have you converted anyone?" thread... maybe someday I'll be able to post the same story there!! :spyder:

According to Kershaw's site, all models of the Leek are "Made in the USA".

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I thought of something that just happened that I thought was funny.

I've recently gotten into folders (read: Spydies), kitchen knives and sharpening. I'm getting some pretty good results... shaving sharp every time... hair whittling sharp is more of a challenge ...

Yeah, it's a REAL oddball, because actually it needs both... hex for the pivot, T8 for the clip. I love my Caly 3, but that doesn't make any sense to me at all.

(yes that means the entire decade from 1980 to 1989)
So, does that mean we can guess again? :D

Isn't it a T8? Plus, it's possible (not for sure) that you might need two, since for some strange reason they equipped the Caly with a torx-capped screw and a torx-capped "nut".

I've been carrying my VG-10/G-10 Caly 3 for a couple weeks now, and love it. Unless I expect a day or trip that would involve some abuse that I don't want to subject my Caly 3 to, my Delica is going to have to get used to hanging out at home!!

4) Micro-bevel with alternating passes and very little parallel travel

I've been trying to minimize the parallel travel, and I usually end up with a scratch pattern that is angled somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees from the edge. I've noticed that the scratch pattern has been essentially ...

I just got some benchstones, and as a crutch on my way to true freehanding, I had a friend cut wedges to place under my stones (15 and 17.5 degree). I've measured them with an angle measuring "level" and they're pretty accurate. I've also measured the blade angle when I'm sharpening to ensure that I ...

I just got mine (G-10 PE) in the mail yesterday... haven't had a chance to use it on much yet, but I'm noticing some scratching on the blade in an arc about 1/2" from the pivot. It's as if something abrasive has gotten between the blade and the scales and is scratching the blade as it pivots. I've ...

That's a tough one... my first real knife was a CE Delica 4, but I ended up trading it for a PE D4, because I found I rarely used the serrated portion, which I felt cost me too much (nearly half!) of the "useful" part of the blade. But now I find myself thinking about adding maybe three serrations ...
