Spyderco supports China and the eroding of our jobs!

To Whom It May Concern:

I just received a new knife, a Delica. Upon receiving the knife I looked and saw that the packaging is printed in China now. I am very disappointed in your lack of support for the USA. Why do you not support America and print your packages here? Do you enjoy supporting child labor, environmental destruction and allowing your fellow Americans to lose jobs?

Are you not an American company? Why not keep some jobs here in the US? I see that you are now having knives made in China as well. Thumbs down. Lack of quality and a lack of interest in support for your country.

I wish Sal would read this email. I'd like to let him know how un-American his company has become. And that I will no longer purchase his knives. But I doubt very much that he will ever see this email or care at all. It's all about lining his pockets and taking jobs away from Americans. Shame on you Spyderco and Sal. Farming out work to China? Congrats on helping to slowly erode our country.

Japanese steel is one thing, as it is superior. But you should know how pi$$-poor chinese products are and that they are not a country that USA should support. They are taking away our jobs and our ability to make money here (unless you're Sal and you line your pockets with the money!) They are poisoning our children with lead paint and other poisons on toys! I think it's disgusting that you find supporting these "environmental and child poisoners".

I dare you to send this to Sal. I know you won't do it.

Thanks for your time and your support of the chinese empire of terror!

I have so many things to say, but I doubt i could say anything to change your mind since you have already taken a stance without knowing all the facts.

Get over it. It's a global business world, and to be profitable means competing at the same level as one's competitors. Today that means doing business with China. Do I like it? No. But it's the reality.

Before anyone else gets the idea, I'll send you my mailing address if you'd like to rid yourself of those commie-supporting knives.

The issue with the Tenacious has already been discussed here, search for that part of your complaint. As for the packaging, I'm not going to sweat that part. As much as I would like nothing to do with supporting China's economy, in today's global economy I would be jousting at windmills if I boycotted every product with something made by China.

I wish you can see things more clearly and actually know the facts before you put down some random assumption

I support SAL and all his decisions fully. IMO this companies is Number 1 compared to all other production knife companies out there. If you want to figure out why that is the case just read the old threads, because one can figure quite easily why Spyderco blows away the competition.

take care and your welcome to pm me if you have any other things to say which you do not want the kids to hear.

Good luck going through a normal day without using something made in China. It's not impossible, but significantly difficult. Last I heard, about 70% of the products in Wal-Mart are made in China, except the Native, which is, of course, made in Golden, Colorado, USA, Earth.

I can appreciate your position and passion, and see the validity in sending it to customer service, but why post it on this forum?

Its called narcissism. We and most of the companies here in america outsource some things to china to make it cheap enough for ppl like you and me to be able to afford it. I can imagine how many native 3's would sell if all the knives from spyderco were made here. May be 120-150 dollars? Would you buy it? The problem here is macro economics. We set the rules to play by, with what we as the consumers are willing to pay. So you want to blame someone blame yourself, not Sal and Spyderco. But since you run on the fact that only you can be right and everyone elses opinion is not valid, the only thing I can tell you is to get more education. Then may be you can see the larger picture then the poor kids in china that made your Ikea bed that you sleep on every night.
I have a small collection.. At least in my mind its small. All respect to Sal and this great company! Collector Club Member #120

Ahahahahahaha! Wow, this is funny stuff. Why don't you take a course in international business, wait because you are too mad at the world? Oh well. I don't think we would want you to own a spyderco anyways. Enjoy the rest of your day :p .

I understand what the business is. Outsourcing a part or complete production to China makes more money.
However, I doubt that everyone moved production to China. Isn't that true that Chris Reeve Sebenza is still completely produced in US and the price is basically a constant?
Or, am I wrong?

I have 5 Chris Reeve knives. Totally USA made baby. Did I pay alot more for them? Yes. Since you guys love to own a million knives and love to pay cheap prices (even Spyderco's are considered cheap) you are the problems. Your support is the problem. I buy Surefires and Chris Reeves knives and Arc AAA lights. I pay more for them to support our country. I do not buy, nor will I ever, a Fenix light. Doesn't anyone have any pride left in their country? Go move to China since you love their goods so much.

Oh and sorry to have to "school" you guys but one of the first things I learned that relates to this on so many levels is -

"IF EVERYONE JUMPED OFF A BRIDGE WOULD YOU DO IT?" I personally do not. You idiots can do whatever you like and support who ever you like. We can make a difference. Also, I do not shop at Walmart, are you kidding?

Spyderco jumped off the bridge along with everyone else. Congratulations!

It's funny. You guys want your cheap cool knives so your willing to argue that it's ok, whatever. Jump off the bridge!
