Question for the Caly3 nuts!

#1

Post by Avg_Joe »

I think I am finally going to bite the bullet and get a Caly3! Everyone just seems to love them so much I wanna know what all the fuss is about and I figure I can't go wrong with one. My question is this: Can you orientate the pocket clip on the Caly3 to carry it in your left pocket tip up? That is a something I really need and by looking at the pictures of the knife it doesn't look like you can but Spyderco says it can be done. I just need to make sure.

Thanks!

Yes, you just need a T9 Torx driver.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Welcome to the forums, Avg_Joe! It's always nice to see a new fellow southpaw here. I in fact had the exact same question when I was deciding on a Caly 3 (my first :spyder :) over a year ago. I emailed Spyderco about it, but honestly I'm glad you brought this up explicitly for the benefit of future potential Caly 3 owners.

I'd also say that dudes dig it...well, I got my girlfriend a MOPA Kiwi, but if I were single right now a lady with a Caly 3 would definitely catch my eye... :p

Isn't it a T8? Plus, it's possible (not for sure) that you might need two, since for some strange reason they equipped the Caly with a torx-capped screw and a torx-capped "nut".

On my G10 Caly 3 i need a T8 for the clip and a T10 to adjust the pivotscrew.

I did not have to change mine cause i'm a rightie.
