caged ball lock, cpms30v, titanium liners... with a bottle opener.. fully rounded edges.. err all round. Completely legal for carry in Australia.

Could be worse and need to be non-locking I guess...

Well put Nick.

I am yet to understand why the existing laws that punish venues for fuelling people with too much alcohol are not being properly enforced. If the venues that got these people so stupidly drunk in the first place that they ended up going off and assaulting people were penalised as the ...

Well, I read the text of the act - which does have exceptions for "lawful excuse" - otherwise every pub serving steak would be a revenue delight for the local police force! (Unless we blanket ban cutlery).

What gets me is the pure reactionary response - the 'fire ready aim' of it all. We can and ...

I dont think the knife crime is more or less than ever before - figures tabled in parliament show it to be 25% lower than a decade ago after all!

The media however has done its job - and now the public are walking in fear of stabbings on our streets .. I still hold that we should be policing people ...

New Australian Knife Laws

Police in Victoria, Australia, now have three new powers:

1. a $1000 on the spot fine ($2000 if it is in a licensed venue) for anyone carrying a knife without lawful excuse.
This power is 'reverse onus' meaning the offender is deemed to be guilty until proven innocent

2. the ability to conduct ...

Mini manix fits snugly in some jeans/shorts coin pockets - no need to clip... insert it tip down, hole up with the tapered (narrower) end going in first.

It goes to about 60% the way down, some more... few less.

The spyderdrop using the hole between thumb and forefinger uses the spydie-hole :)
Some of the spydie models also have the emerson wave feature that is supposed to deploy the blade in the same movement as drawing (although I hear it also tears trouser pockets!)

Opening into reverse grip is indeed ...

My opinion:

Most Practical: G10 caly3 in SE
Most Useful: SE Cricket
Most Clever: T-Mag
Most Cool: Phoenix
Most likely to stop a tank: Manix

Any one of them will likely cut anything.
Decision is practical vs. useful vs. clever vs. cool vs. tankstopping power :)

I have had no problems with any deliveries - in fact the last one [being a phoenix] got here in 3 or 4 days flat, unopened.

I have seen no evidence of them opening any of my knives - ever.

Deacon:

A cricket would have done all those tasks perfectly!

In Australia though, the law is not dependent on size of the blade, it simply states "for lawful purpose". As it was a weekend and I was going out to open air exhibitions in the centre of town, and not engaged in my usual daily work ...

The ludicrousness of these laws is ... thus:

Today I was out with a group of friends.. no-one had any EDC today, it was a mixed group, few couples, babies, kids etc. Lovely day, lovely weather, free trade festival.

Then:
- a clamshell needed to be opened
- a kid wanted a balloon cut from its nylon ...

It's not everyday you have to defend yourself. Some drunk came at me with a broken bottle for absolutely no reason and all I had to do is pull out my endura wave. He didn't hesitate to leave. Just seeing the knife is enough (most of the time). I say always be prepared, there are some crazy people ...

I didnt see anyone post on the "what have you cut today" a response saying: "another human being" !

These laws are very similar to the Australian laws - here we dont have a size limit though - one can carry any sized blade for any lawful purpose - heck a chainsaw if you want.

I use whatever I am ...
