One more reason why I think SE will always be better imo (Graphic pics) Cricket

I finally found these on my pc and just had to post. Took place a few months ago, and people at my workplace were very surprised that something so small could do so much.

The cricket in SE is one knife that everyone should try out. An incredible cutter and a daily edc. I plan to get another one soon. I can't keep these guys with me whatsoever. Perfect knife as a gift for the non knife people.

1 Frn SE went to India with my cousin
1 Frn SE is being carried by a buddy for his duties as an armed guard
1 SS SE is on another friends key chain. She just loves it
1 Almite SE was replaced by Spyderco, because it failed the Spine whack test, and the nice people at Spyderco sent me a SS SE cricket. (Sent it in for sharpening with a bunch of other knives)
The last cricket I had went to family member that helped me out of a jam.

I can't say enough good things about this knife. It really needs to come back as a sprint run in FRN, Almite, Titanium and a lot of different colors as well. :)

Enjoy the pics eh. It took about 5-7 minutes to accomplish the below task. Oh btw I didn't do it for just the sake of doing it. I did it because it needed to fit in the trash compactor. :D

Sorry I tend to ramble most times about spydies. :o

I was going to ask if it was 1 or 2 swipes? But you said it took 5 to 7 minutes, so it must have been 2.
:)
great pictures. I had a Cricket just like that when i went to South America. I miss it.

+1 on that. It almost seems like it should have originally come with titanium scales being a Reeve integral lock and all. I've always wondered why Spyderco has never offered a smaller knife with titanium scales like Boker or other companies. The cricket would be a perfect start.

Thank for the pics AJ

I have the same thing. Everytime I use my SS Cricket/SE I'm flat out amazed by it's cuttingpower.

A couple of years ago I decided to really give my Cricket a workout by taking it to my then job.

Well, it cut tie rips, heavy cardboard, polymer printing plates and polyethylene foil strings just as good(and sometimes even better) than my Delica/SE or bigger.

And a while back I was curious how the Cricket/SE would do as a rescue blade. I had a thick leather belt lying around and the Cricket cut it in half in one single cut.

For the past week or so I have been carrying only my SS Cricket/SE as my main knife and I really don't need any bigger.

Just like you I can't tell enough good things on this knife. ;)

An amazing knife that deserves a comeback in FRN and many different colors. :)

I miss all of mine that I have given away.

I need another Cricket bad and the almite and FRN are my favourites. My last one was stolen in India out of my room. **** wedding guests :(

btw Sal please bring back the FRN or the Almite version. I love the heft of the Almite and the lightness of the Frn ones. :)

just yesterday i washed my feather down comforter in my washing machine, ive done this many times but this time it was so tangled up in a huge knot i couldnt get it out for the life of me, i literally gave up after so many trys and getting no where.

I then decided on cutting it out, keep in mind it was a wet down knot. I used an exacto blade first and it barely did anything, then tried scisorrs, nothing. Finally decided on using my serrated CF Delica and with a couple cuts coming from the inside out it was done.

Spyderco's SE fixed blades make cutting jobs easier

#15

Post by JD Spydo »

I really became sold on Spyderedges back when I bought my first SE Spyder which was a GIN-1 Mariner. That folder sure gave me a completely new perspective on serrated blades. Not only did I immediately see that Spyderco's serrations are far above any others I had used previous to that but I also seen that the serration pattern that Spyderco was using made all the difference in the world of SE cutlery.

There are so many petty predjudices we encounter in the knife world but none of them perplex me as much as the people who won't even so much as give SE, Spyderedged blades a good try-out.

Spyderco's SE Hawkbills are ferocious cutters and can get through tough and fibrous materials with the greatest of ease. I truly wish Spyderco would get back to making more SE fixed blades. I was really disappointed to see that they didn't make the Temperance II available in SE. I regard my SE Temperance 1 model as a permanent part of my collection. It is such a valuable outdoor cutting tool especially for field dressing deer and other game.

I sure also hope that Spyderco will experiment with other serration patterns. I particularly like the wavy serrations on Spyderco's kitchen cutlery as is on the K-04 & K-05 models. I would love to see those type of serrations on an outdoor fixed blade.

I purchased a Cricket largely based on this thread.

1. My money clip is going on 3 years and it's pretty scratched up.
2. The Spin is too small for one.
3. One day while walking down the street, I might have to cut a mattress in half.

I just got a Cricket. It's the PE, etched version that was just discontinued, though. Someday I might pick up a second one and do a blade swap to get serrations plus cool handle. But the PE is a freaking razor blade as it is...

I've been kicking myself all afternoon. I saw SS Crickets (both SE and PE) at a gun show this morning selling NIB for $39.

I wasn't in the market for a Cricket but if they're still there when I go back tomorrow I'll grab one.
