Knife drawing and opening style
I bet there are about a 1000 ways to flick open a knife.
I wonder if you have found some fast/ unusual/ weird or funny ways to open and close your knifes.
My sport is Indonesian Silat and we do a lot of golok and knife work, mostly fixed knives. For folders however, i don't have that much experience besides playing around with my own knives.
The fastest way that I found out was taking a reversed grip, put your fingers on the bottom of the handle and flick it open downwards (bet it has a name but i don't know what)
Havent been able to make pictures of that yet.
I'm wondering if you have some hints, tips or pictures of unusual knife drawing and opening methodes.

The spyderdrop using the hole between thumb and forefinger uses the spydie-hole :)
Some of the spydie models also have the emerson wave feature that is supposed to deploy the blade in the same movement as drawing (although I hear it also tears trouser pockets!)
Opening into reverse grip is indeed very fast - apparently setting up the clip for the opposite hand makes it easy to draw for ready for this setup.
The heavier blades can also be opened into forward grip with a quick up/down or left/right flick - I find a manix to be very quick to open - probably more so than the ball-bearing lock mechanisms.
A finger flick using the hole works on most of them... and a combination finger and wrist flick also works well.
They can also usually be deployed by swinging the hand/arm into an abrupt stop - e.g. knocking the forearm of the knife hand into your other forearm will provide enough momentum for the knife to deploy.
The most interesting, practical, knife-preserving way is to simply put the thumb on the spider hole and open it.
And.. lastly, but importantly, the most non threatening way to open a knife in front of another person, I find, is with two hands [e.g. if asked by a customs official] ... any of the other methods above may cost you a knife!
They are about all the ways I know. There are several videos on youtube of spydies being deployed as well.

I got a little bored one day and did this video of different ways of opening and closing different spydies, and different locks, its a bit boring till the last bit though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YPCweo_v5I
When i get a chance to use a good video camera, instead of a crappy point and shoot, i will do another one, in a bit more detail.
I was working on one with the wave opening too, but the picture quality of my camera isnt worth the effort.
If i get a SLR that shoots HD video to play with i will be redoing this video, and maybe extending it a little,

I have a Waved Endura and Delica, and I do like the feature but I noticed that the missing blade material makes it just a bit harder to do a dynamic opening without adding a wrist flick. My new FFG E4 loves the Spydie drop. Overall I have found that knives w/ backlocks seem to be harder to "flick" open than ones with other locks, i.e. liner locks. I haven't messed w/ a compression lock to say whether or not the same holds true. (Maybe if we see a Yo sprint or a Yo II soon :D )
