Burnishing (the way i do it) should not remove that much steel from the edge.

Why buying fat/oil...i just rub the washer on my nose :D

Keeps my slipjoints (carbonsteel) free from rust too.

What i would like to know...

The question spooking around in my mind is that heat is not good for any steel because it will ruin the heat-treat.
But if i cut cardboard (i dislike doing it and use only old beaters for that) the edge can get pretty hot.
What does that heat do to the edge???

The H1 looks like a little wonder. Ideal for camping, mainly for moderate cutting tasks like foodprep, and should excel as fishingknife.Although for this tasks ...

I had read some time ago (dont remember the site..sorry) that H1 blades getting harder while cutting abrasive mediums (like cardboard and so on).
The hardness of a well used H1-edge reached more than 60 RC.
I know that a high hardness alone doesnt make a blade cut any longer ...
