I really don't care for the fuller. I was looking forward to this knife but now I don't know...
For this type of knife the small weight savings that the fuller provides wouldn't matter to me plus I don't understand how it can stiffen the blade.

Longer blade, longer handle, more leverage is available. I think the choice in steel must reflect the need for more ductility in the steel. The geometry of the blade has a lot to do with the steel choice. Wide is stronger than narrow, thick is stronger than thin. But we are talking about a folder ...

Let me weigh in, as for EDC I don't see most people carrying a larger folder when a Manix will do. Having said that when camping, hiking, or the like some people just plain prefer a folder and, realistically, even if a fixed blade does the same stuff with less complications the truth is the folder ...

Thanks everyone.
It's good to know that Spyderco does random quality checks.
From what I understand a good heat treatment requires attention to detail with some steels requiring a very precise sequence of heat treatment steps in order to get the best from the steel. I can see how a bad batch could ...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this thread is an example of why I wish posing deals was not allow on this forum. These deals weren't all that great if you can run google. Now the thread has gone negative. The forum is better when talking about knives instead of dealers

heat treat questions
Does Spyderco heat treat their steel in house or do they sub it out? If they sub it out is it always to the same contractor? Just curious about this since the heat treatment of the steel is tremendously important to the qualities of the steel. A good heat treat is everything.
