I really don't care for the fuller. I was looking forward to this knife but now I don't know...
For this type of knife the small weight savings that the fuller provides wouldn't matter to me plus I don't understand how it can stiffen the blade.

Which photos are closer to the actual color....post #18 or the lighter blue in post #13?
I'm not liking the lighter blue so much.

I've had mine for just a couple of weeks and I have to echo what everyone else is saying...I love it. The blade design, the M4 steel, the solid lock up, the feel and look. I love it all. I may even end up getting another one just to keep as a back up in case they ever end production on this model.

Longer blade, longer handle, more leverage is available. I think the choice in steel must reflect the need for more ductility in the steel. The geometry of the blade has a lot to do with the steel choice. Wide is stronger than narrow, thick is stronger than thin. But we are talking about a folder ...

Let me weigh in, as for EDC I don't see most people carrying a larger folder when a Manix will do. Having said that when camping, hiking, or the like some people just plain prefer a folder and, realistically, even if a fixed blade does the same stuff with less complications the truth is the folder ...

I prefer it the way it comes and find the lock easy to disengage with my bare hand. I imagine if I were using gloves it would be more difficult.
I also like the way it comes from the factory. For my purposes, I don't care that it might take a bit of effort to get it closed. I actually like the ...

I doubt I will ever buy a Chinese made Spyderco. Taiwan is a different story though.

What line is that? A forum rule or something?

I ordered my Gayle Bradley from them on the 9th and received it on the 15th. I also got a couple of email updates in between. It's my only experience with them but it was 100% positive.

Thanks everyone.
It's good to know that Spyderco does random quality checks.
From what I understand a good heat treatment requires attention to detail with some steels requiring a very precise sequence of heat treatment steps in order to get the best from the steel. I can see how a bad batch could ...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this thread is an example of why I wish posing deals was not allow on this forum. These deals weren't all that great if you can run google. Now the thread has gone negative. The forum is better when talking about knives instead of dealers
I think $99 plus ...

heat treat questions

Does Spyderco heat treat their steel in house or do they sub it out? If they sub it out is it always to the same contractor? Just curious about this since the heat treatment of the steel is tremendously important to the qualities of the steel. A good heat treat is everything.
Also, for knives made ...

Poorfish has offices in Ballwin, Mo., and Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster should look into the company's duplicitous pattern of raising prices whenever it advertises a "sale."

I'm not sure I agree with that. Even though it's deceiving, I don't think it's illegal. Just don't buy from them ...

Those prices are unbelievably good but as usual, I missed out.
Still, the Sage is still well worth the currrent prices they are asking and I'll most likely pick one up soon.

Sal,

Thanks so much for the information.
I tend to think the Gayle Bradley will be my next purchase. But I'm really interested in the "Tuff"whenever it becomes available.
Is it possible to get on a waiting list to insure that I'm able to get one, assuming that they are a limited run? I'd hate to ...

Thanks to everyone, especially Sal, for taking the time to reply. I really do appreciate it.
I understand that nothing beats a good fixed blade for abuse (digging and prying). I have a few good fixed blades including a couple Ka-Bar's and Busse's.

I guess my thinking is that there are times when I ...
