Which photos are closer to the actual color....post #18 or the lighter blue in post #13?
I'm not liking the lighter blue so much.

I would say the closest rendition of the actual color is the close-up of the bolt-lock at the very end of my post #13.

An example of how digital photography STILL doesn't match film when it comes to color and clarity.

Sitting here looking at the knife, it is darker than any of the pics posted on this thread. I do in fact agree with racer about the closeups being the closest. I can say that holding it next to my blue Delica 4, the Sage is slightly darker. Hope that helps.

Ordered mine last night, went kinda crazy though; also ordered a Breeden Rescue, Lum Glass Fiber, and a Camo Military Satin blade. Had a Spyderco hangover this morning!

How's the lock-up? Blade play in any direction?

Not being familiar with this type of lock, I probably won't jump on one if it's one of those locks where "a little bit of play is acceptable".

Like all my Spydies so far, lock-up is solid. I don't know how the experts test for play, but I just grab it with my hand and try to wiggle it. I can't feel any movement.

I'd say it would be a very solid lockup. Looking at Patent drawings from Mr Collins for the Bolt Action lock and then looking at Louis Glesser's Ball Bearing lock patents, its a similar idea and I think would provide similar results to the end user. I'll not fully know until I get a Sage 3 in my hands. Waiting for a Canadian distributer to have them in stock! :)
Too many Spydies to list!

Exact color rendition on computer monitors is really tricky. If the source monitor
is not calibrated - any editing of the original image file for color will skew the
original color. Then the adjustment of the viewer's monitor has to be taken in to
consideration! Not only color values, but the simple contrast and brightness
settings can really have a drastic effect!

I'm always cranking down the brightness / contrast values on friend's screen to
get rid of edge ringing and open up shadow or darker values.

So all that said, image color values are all over the place out there on the
Interweb... take a look at how Forest Green and Orange look different in just
about every picture you look at :)

YMMV, if it lasts over 4 hrs. see a Dr. right away, actual MPG varies, May cause
double vision, i stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :)

(btw... killer knife!)

Color is a bit lighter than in the photos, even though I had the light balance set correctly. Truly an awesome knife. The wire clip and wide handle make it an awesome knife to clip in the back pocket too.

Mine arrived today and the color in your shots is darn close, at least on my monitor, to the real knife I'm looking at under halogen light.

Even "in hand" the perceived color of just about anything varies depending on whether you're viewing it under daylight, regular "cool white" incandescent, regular fluorescent, 5600K CFL, white LED, or halogen light.

Thanks everybody for the shots. That matching G10 backspacer is great, I hope we see it on more knives.

WooHoo!

I was pleasantly surprised that mine came in today!

Edit: Video has finally uploaded and is in my signature.

I do show the bolt action lock in action.

Take care

Mine just shipped today from YCS. I'm looking forward to handling my first "bolt lock" knife, albeit late and the wrong color. YCS seems to be cheaper and slower based on what I'm reading.

Often cheaper, usually slower...probably related. :)
