I would suggest trying a serrated H1 knife as its work hardened from the factory (more so than PE), gets you more cutting surface and makes quick work of line, twine and the like. It is usually what I grab when I plan to do outdoor activity when I know I will be sweating.

Let us know what you get ...

I just hand sanded mine. Other than my hands turning a bit black with CF particles, there was none (or very little) airborne dust. I also wet sanded the CF scales so the water also help eliminate any dust.

It only takes a few minutes of sanding to complete the project, so even if there is dust ...

I was referring to the military and its blade, not the Starmate. Should'a quoted the post... sorry :o

Well, if they are saying the handle is black CF, there are a couple versions of that, if they are saying the BLADE is black then its a frankenspydie and I would stay away from it.

Pic or link would help.

Wharncliffe style for me as well. Love my hawk, love my H1 and love my regular... I suppose no matter what they do with the ladybug I would be in for a couple.

I have one and love it. I don't find the lock hard to operate at all, very comfortable in hand and I find it on par with other knives for width when closed i.e. the manix.

Get it, you wont regret it... but if you do I will take it off your hands ;)

I have 6, all of which I can find the flaw. 5 of the 6 are due to the grind and the 6th is my bushcraft which I am sure everyone knows why it's a 2nd ;)

Another good place is http://www.jantzsupply.com

They have a catalog you can look through as a PDF... bit easier than clicking on link after link.. at least for me :)

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have more specific questions.

Can you do it... yes. Will it last... probably not very long.

If I were to attempt it, I would first make sure the surface is prepped extremely well, a nice sand blast or something to open up the surface and give the paint something to attach to. The issue with textured G-10 is you cant just sand ...

You can't go wrong with a sharpmaker. It's easy to use and if your goal is to maintain your knives, not let them get extremely dull and try to bring them back, it will work just fine with the brown and whites. If you abuse then fix you will want diamonds or a grinder. YMMV of course

You walk in the front door, to the left is the SFO, to the right is an employee only door, and from my peeks probably leads to the factory. Upstairs looks to be offices and such. It's a great place to visit, I have ran into Sal, his wife, and Eric at the SFO. It's great getting knife lessons from ...

It probably had a number followed by a V. A different edge is called a variation in the collectors club so he could have 3 militaries but each has a different blade style.
