Is it worth visiting spyderco in golden?

#1

Post by markIVbigblock »

hey guys I am wondering if it is worth stopping in to visit spyderco in golden. The reason I ask is my company has sent me to the colorado school of mines today and tomorrow which is in golden. Also does anyone know when the annual factory seconds sale is? Did I miss it? I just moved to fort collins, Co about 1 1/2 hours away. Thanks!

Aaron

It's worth it if you are going to be in the area, there are some really nice and helpful people at the SFO. And yeah, you already missed the 2nd's sale it was last November but I do have some pics for you:

If I was going to be at that school, I'd be spending my lunch breaks at the SFO. Even if you are flat broke, it's worth that short drive just to see the display cases full of Spydies.

Yes, it is worth stopping by to take a look around! My wife is not so happy that I did not leave the credit card at the hotel, I was there on the 9th and picked up a Kiwi, and a J.D. Smith. The staff was very helpful. :)

I was there a couple months ago. Got to handle a couple of discontinued models that are harder to find. it's definitely worth a visit.

You silly man. If you are that close, the real question is why haven't you been yet?

A forum member who visited Golden and did not stop at Spyderco might very well have his man card revoked. ;)

You're almost there. Get west to Sixth Avenue/ Route 93 (the only large road in Golden), go north for about 2 miles. You will see the Spyderco building at the left. Getting in their is a bit of a trick. Go past SFO, turn left at the next turn (on Pine Ridge Rd), then left again at the next turn (Avery St) after that. You're looking at the back of the building. Go around to the front and you're there.

Be a real shame to be within 2 miles of Mecca and not visiting. Need revocation of your Spyderco license if you miss this.

You walk in the front door, to the left is the SFO, to the right is an employee only door, and from my peeks probably leads to the factory. Upstairs looks to be offices and such. It's a great place to visit, I have ran into Sal, his wife, and Eric at the SFO. It's great getting knife lessons from them.

If I had any reason to be in the Colorado area, I would try my best to make an effort to stop by the SFO. A co-worker of mine recently went by there but it was closed.

yes, there's a showroom. It works just like going to your regular knife dealer. you just point to the case and say "i want to play with this one" followed by "i'll take it"

All this talk is making me jealous...
I used to NOT like thumbholes. Until I used one.
Just like I didn't like the look of Spyderco knives in general. Until I held one.

So all you get to see is the showroom? I can't imagine it's that interesting to visit to be honest.
