Re: Need some input
My wife prefers red and green. Blues and grays are definitely more masculine.

CPM Spy27 in a Post-Crucible World
I haven't seen this addressed anywhere (please link me the thread if I missed it), but what is going to happen with CPM SPY27 steel after Crucible's collapse? Is this among the steels that we'll eventually see as a Niagara/Erasteel/Carpenter product once on-hand stock runs out?

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
Hey Doc,
I guess we could use a thread as a tutorial? Questions & Answers? Tricks?
The razor will come with the tutorial pamphlet (Written by our own Doc Dan), but for those that want to experience the adventure of straight razor shaving, expertise helps.
There is a learning curve, but worth ...

Re: China
I intentionally only buy Spyderco products from Japan, Taiwan, USA, and Italy. I will not buy knives that are made in China or that feature Chinese steel. This isn't about being a US-only chest thumper. When designing more budget friendly products, give me 14C28N or AUS-8 before 8Cr13MoV for example ...

Favorite fidgety locking system?
As my knife collection grows, I find myself drawn towards those with maximum fidget factor. For sheer fidgety variety, my CruWear Smock is the favorite big kid fidget toy - thumbing it open, reverse flicking, flipper tabbing, or inertia opening with the button lock all bring joyous hits of dopamine ...

Re: Beautiful packaging
Add my vote to the pile of folks who are fine with the current box design. I'd rather not see any changes made that will drive up costs any more than they already are. However, I would be understanding if it meant more stickers

Fascinating breakdown of heat treatment
https://youtu.be/VRBpqM6ESrg?si=NiES9xIkD3-Z4Zd5
I just watched this YouTube video about heat treatment and found it incredibly helpful in understanding heat treatment, austenite, martensite, etc and thought other knife steel nerds might find it informative.

Re: Question: Para 3 Salt & PM2 Salt scales
I haven't issues with either of my PM2 Salts. The recessed G10 layers are very grippy but the slight chamfer the machined grooves have seems to be sufficient to not destroy pockets. At least that's been my experience! YMMV

Re: DLT Trading Smock Exclusive: Green Canvas Micarta w/ CPM20CV
I have one of the CruWear & aluminum versions and I absolutely love it.
Like most, I removed the 2nd detent and spring, but I also swapped the factory bearings or for a set of Skiff bearings. The action is truly *chef's kiss*

Re: Para Military® 2 Red/Black G-10 CPM® MagnaCut® Crucible
But, will they actually sell at those insane prices?
I just checked and there's a 3rd one listed now for $945.99. I also see MagnaMax Mules listed for $200-$300
Is this normal for rare Spyderco editions?

Re: MT46P Testing Thread
Here are pictures of the damaged areas after being honed & stropped. They're far from perfect and the damaged belly area still hangs on paper but I'm really surprised with how well it came back. I thought more of the blade material in the belly was gone via chipping but it was mostly mashed. Very ...

Re: MT46P Testing Thread
So, I'm sure there were people just DYING to find out how MagnaMax holds up when thrust into asphalt but nobody had the stones to try it. Well, my pain is your gain and you can wonder no more! While I was climbing into my truck this morning after having breakfast with a friend, my Mule decided it ...

Re: MT46P Testing Thread
I think something that goes with the territory is that the Mule Team knives are meant to be used and abused. A burr from the factory might be a bummer, but the reality is, any real tester will be putting their own edge on it sooner than later and most likely have the necessary sharpening ...

Re: Para Military® 2 Red/Black G-10 CPM® MagnaCut® Crucible
Today was a fun day. I took my lunch break to head over and see how things were stacking up, since I knew the sale online had started at 9am today and had heard last time I was in that while they had initially said it was to be 'online only' they had reversed course and decided to offer a few for ...

Re: Para Military® 2 Red/Black G-10 CPM® MagnaCut® Crucible
I got my order confirmed by 8:01 a.m.. Whew!
Knowing these were originally for Crucible's employees only, I wonder if the reason these were made available is Spyderco had some sitting on the shelf and they decided to blow them out since there won't be anymore Crucible new hires to issue them to ...

Re: Anyone tested VG XEUS mule yet
I really enjoy my AEB-L Mule. Of every steel I've tried, it's taken the second best edge only after a Buck with a hollow ground 420HC blade with a ~12° edge. I highly recommend it!
So, about that rumored straight edge razor.....

Re: S90V Obsolete?
I'm trying to figure out why I would bother with S90V steel when MagnaMax provides similar (if not superior) edge retention, and improved toughness & corrosion resistance. Can anyone offer a well founded argument for why S90V won't be fully obsolesced? Testing data and/or empirical data are most ...
