I got my order confirmed by 8:01 a.m.. Whew!

Knowing these were originally for Crucible's employees only, I wonder if the reason these were made available is Spyderco had some sitting on the shelf and they decided to blow them out since there won't be anymore Crucible new hires to issue them to. Hence the extremely limited quantities.

What was the total number being sold with this batch?
Manix 2 BBB CPM 15V x2 // Manix 2 CruCarta // Manix 2 XL CruCarta // Native Chief Salt MagnaCut // Stretch 2 XL K390 // Smock CruWear Aluminum Distributer Exclusive // Para Military 2 Salt Bumblebee G10 MagnaCut x2 // Para Military 2 Crucible Industries Red/Black G10 MagnaCut

I went back and it let me put another knife into my cart and start the check-out process. Looks like you can buy more than one but you have to do it one order at a time.
This was an unfortunate challenge with the platform. We are reviewing each order, and anyone who ordered above the limit will be contacted. It looks like most customers honored the limit without our intervention. :)

Glad to hear it. I cancelled the second one before payment, it was just a test in my case.

Congratulations everyone who got one. I passed, reluctantly, because I know I would not use it and it would just have sat on a shelf.

I am grateful to Spyderco for making these available and limiting it to one per person.

I already had the blacked out M2,P2, and P3.

Not enough of a collector for this one, but a big shout out to the people who made Crucible Industries what it was. Thank you.

Today was a fun day. I took my lunch break to head over and see how things were stacking up, since I knew the sale online had started at 9am today and had heard last time I was in that while they had initially said it was to be 'online only' they had reversed course and decided to offer a few for sale in person. When I arrived at the SFO, I was greeted by not only the Crucible PM2 in the display case, but with the bumblebee PM2 Salt right next to it - that is a hard knife to find in it's own right (wish I had gotten a picture of that!).

When I had arrived, they had about 4-5 left, out of 10 total for sale in-person -

And now, for a little bit of Crucible PM2 lore:

(feel free to fill in the blanks or correct the details below!)

In various conversations at the SFO, I tried to gain a little more understanding of the history of how the knife came about, and anything I could find out on actual numbers produced. From some new information I got today, it sounds like when the idea was initially decided upon, they had planned on a bigger run of 1000-1200 or so, but given the size of Crucible, the actual number produced ended up being somewhere around 480. Either due to the time of not having the knives fully available at the time of the dissolution of Crucible, or employees unable (financially, physically, or otherwise) to get one, not all Crucible employees came into possession of one. If I was to speculate, I would say that probably around 30-80 or so went to Crucible, but that number stands to be corrected. Then, due to the number of knives left, it sounds like they were offered to Spyderco employees. That likely accounts for another 120-150. They were initially not intended to be offered to the public, buy with a limited amount left, we ended up with the Sept 23 sale. When I asked what they thought was the total for today, estimates were between 200-300. They offered 10 in store.

I'm grateful for Spyderco's generosity in sharing the opportunity to join in memorializing Crucible and honoring how much they helped the industry.

I'm guessing it had to do with either making more than there ended up being employees that wanted one, or sometimes in production things are just ran in batch numbers and you end up with more than you needed. Maybe they wanted to use up all of this red G10 or something, maybe they just saw an opportunity to make money off the model. I would love to know what the actual production numbers were, it's gotta be one of the rarest Para 2's.

Yes, a little more info on my issue with the PayPal issue here, while I was trying to buy one of the Crucible PM2's, my first attempt at buying one locked up my purchase with my Bluetooth and phone right as I was finishing the purchase.

I just knew it didn't go through, so I got completely out and went back in and was able to still get one. I was so glad at that point.

A few minutes later I got the notification online by email it went through, then I got the second notification, so I had two of them and I thought oh crud, this ain't right. There ain't enough of these to go around as it is...

Then sometime later I get the notice that one of the orders had been canceled. So Spyderco was all over this. Which is only right. I just hope I did get one of them as I have checked my credit card charges as of last night online and I have several returned charges.

I have spend well over 5000 dollars just this last month on knives and tools, so it's quite a hot mess to try and keep up with online when you live on the fringes of cell coverage and where even my cable router/modem and blue tooth just work half the time lol. We had storms here last night to complicate things here even more with my coverage over the air.

So the long story here, I just hope this one knife I did buy one, and I don't have to buy it off ebay lol. Which I did buy the SE MagnaMax and then another PE MagnaMax later. I needed an extra PE MagnaMax to share the Mule with a very special friend to see if he can use up the MagnaMax Mule.

Coarse I bought the scales and Boltaron Sheath to load all these up too. They all work so well together jimo. Time will only tell if the MagnaMax Mule make the cut for my friend or if he kills it lol.

Now if I do end up getting one of these Crucible PM2's, it's not getting loaned out, torture tested or even honed lol. It's for just showing off on special occasions around here.

Jeb-

I’m betting if you don’t have a determination yet on the status of the two orders, perhaps you can give them a call today to explain the situation and see if they were able to keep one of the orders.

Of course! I just hope I got the details right from various conversations I heard yesterday and previously. I will stand to be corrected if we all get more accurate figures.

So I wonder if the ~480 includes the cc knives?

Oh, heck if I didn't score one, I pick one off ebay, God forbid. I have spent a small fortune on there the last few months.

I'm an international customer. I'd like to share a very disappointing issue I've had.

I was trying to purchase the Para Military 2 Red/Black G-10 MagnaCut, but when I paid with my credit card using PayPal's Guest Checkout, the system charged me twice.

Unfortunately, shortly after, both of the charged amounts were canceled without any order confirmation email.

Big thumbs up to Spyderco gifting Crucible employees as a thank you for years of great production . I passed , love the knife but really think if I purchased one it would be sitting in cabinet not used . I would love to see a similar color scheme on the M2. MG2
