The Delica damascus edge is not damascus?
If I understand correctly, the blade of the damascus Delica (and any other Spyderco damascus knife for that matter) is a sandwich of a (non damascus) VG-10 core and two outer layers of damascus VG-10. The blade is flat ground to the core and therefore the edge itself consists of the non damascus ...

Re: Harpy vs Civilian
As said above, the Harpy has practical benefits. I cuts ropes very efficiently. It could be helpful in emergency situations for cutting clothes without cutting the skin beneath. I use it mainly to open packages. The shape helps to prevent to cut what’s in the package.

Re: Sharpening forum?
It is a lot of manual labor to search the forum for every thread pertaining to sharpening then compile and move every one of them to its own sub-forum. Not saying it can't happen at all but it's a long process and not something that happens overnight.
Of course. I’m not demanding that all has ...

What the burr?
Hi there,
I am a beginner at sharpening and the burr thing is confusing me. I get, that it’s a method to make sure, that you get your edge to apex, when you don’t know the edge angle on your blade. But don’t you think that alternating strokes on a course stone, checking the correct angle with the ...

I’m new here and I greatly enjoy the topics and discussions on this forum.
Welcome, Tom.
What kind of Spydies do you have? Are you having a problem with a particular type of steel, or are you just like the rest of us and just want to talk about sharpening?
Thank you. I just want to talk ...

The Civilian
Hi there,

Sharpening forum?
Hi,
I’m new here and I greatly enjoy the topics and discussions on this forum. However, I would find a sharpening sub-forum very helpful. Finally, all our Spydie edges should be and stay sharp, shouldn’t they. Or is it meant that sharpening/honing/stropping topics are discussed in the general ...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
Hi. I’m using the Sharpmaker on my SE with pretty good results. It somewhat “flattens” down the “peaks” and the edge snags a little less, which helps.

And the designs often grow on me. The Yojimbo for instance. I found it completely weird and ugly at first and now it’s my favorite blade design.

Re: What is it about Spyderco
Thanks guys. I think I agree with everything said. One thing I really love is the slim profile to fit them in my pocket. Other brands with fancy scales often can’t do that. The great variety of aftermarket products is another reason. If you want, you can always pimp them with titanium scales or ...

Re: The Endura
Normally I stay away from combo edges but for the long blade of the Endura, it’s just perfect. Fine cutting capabilities on the tip and a lot of cutting power close to the fist.

Hi there,
