Sharpening forum?

Hi,
I’m new here and I greatly enjoy the topics and discussions on this forum. However, I would find a sharpening sub-forum very helpful. Finally, all our Spydie edges should be and stay sharp, shouldn’t they. Or is it meant that sharpening/honing/stropping topics are discussed in the general topics section? As a newbie it’s probably not my place to make suggestions like that so please forgive me if I went too far.

I've wondered if a sharpening sub-forum could be useful, but I'm not sure. As of now, yes, we just discuss sharpening stuff in the general chat room. The topic Guts linked to is the closest thing to a centralized sharpening topic.

Thank you. I just want to talk about sharpening in general (angles, stones, techniques etc.) like anybody else.

I'm pretty sure we've talked about this in the past. There are already some good threads, but within those threads are a lot of different conversations, so having a separate forum section where those topics can be separated into individual threads might be fun.

I think it would be a great idea, but I get the impression Spyderco does not plan to add any additional subforums.

I'm all for it. As good as the sharpening journal thread is, I dread looking at it because it's become so cumbersome.

It is a lot of manual labor to search the forum for every thread pertaining to sharpening then compile and move every one of them to its own sub-forum. Not saying it can't happen at all but it's a long process and not something that happens overnight.

Of course. I’m not demanding that all has to be moved. You could determine a day 0 from where sharpening topics would be discussed in a separate forum and keep the older ones where they are unless they are active threads.

Wow, is it really that hard to make a new subforum? I can hear my brother who is in computer technology giving me one of his speaches about how the tech should be designed to make stuff like this easy for those who have to run it!

As it turns out things are rarely as easy as we want them to be it seems.
