Possibly Counterfeit Knife?

#1

Post by Troubleshoot »

Hello All,

I decided to buy a spyderco off of Amazon, it was the true spyderco store and seemed legit to me, and bought a black blade Para military 2, a knife that I already have in silver and love. When it got here, it was firstly, the totally wrong knife (it was the smock), but instead of saying made in Golden, it says made in Taiwan. I just want to verify that it's real. Thoughts?

When you click on the product, on the right it should tell you who it ships from or sells from. What name does that give you. I just went to the Spyderco Store site on Amazon out of curiousity. There are a bunch of different sellers on there depending on what product you click on. Some are on the Dealer Locator. Some are not.

The carbon fiber Smock is actually made in Taichung, Taiwan. From the pics posted, nothing stands out that says “fake” to me. If the Amazon store that you purchased the knife from is a legitimate Spyderco dealer, you can either choose to keep it or return it for the PM2. The CF Smock is a nice knife, and costs more than the DLC PM2.

The Smock is manufactured in Taichung, not Golden. See below screenshot directly from Spyderco's website

You say your original purchase intention was for a Paramilitary 2 model, and the pictured knife is what you actually received? Do you have any photos of the box it came in?
Or any screenshots roughly showing your check out receipt?

That is a completely different model that was shipped to you...

Amazon & EBay sells counterfeits of many products.

Price is good tell, and some counterfeits are good copies of real product.

Buyer beware.

If you don’t want to keep the Smock, I would happily free you from it.
