Re: Larrin's MagnaMax video

I don't know if this has been addressed, but it's been mentioned that the MagnaMax mule is slightly different than the original recipe with more carbon than what it was supposed to be. My question is, has anyone tested the 2 melts against each other? It would be interesting to see the differences ...

Re: Re-release of Z-wear?

I know it’s been mentioned before, but this seems like an appropriate place to say it again; Zapp does not melt or produce anything. They are just a distributor. Every grade you see with a Z is just a rebranded version of something else.

When you buy CPM 3V you know where it was melted and ...

Re: 6" Mule discussion.

Personally I carry 6-7" fixed blades most frequently when out in my woods or backpacking in the wilderness, and 12-14" machetes right behind that size range.

What's a 6" blade good for?

The same things as a 3-4" blade, while doing things with greater efficiency more often than not.

I'd rather ...

Re: 6" Mule discussion.

I have to admit I'm in the why category. I feel like the Temperance and Enuff 2 are almost like a larger mules and can be currently had in 2 awesome steels. 6" blade in a Mule style doesn't really fit in any use categories except for maybe camp/survival. I think the first run would go quickly just ...

Re: Re-release of Z-wear?

I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been a cpm 3v release. Being that Zapp makes an equivalent Z-3 pm I'd think that would be a good choice for a Mule. My personal choice would be the Z-M4 PM BQ. M4 is my favorite balanced non-stainless steel but I'm probably in the minority there.

Re-release of Z-wear?

I've noticed that steels typically aren't re-released in the mule series but it seems that Z-wear is coming out again. Only difference being "BQ" blade quality. Does the "BQ" make enough difference to justify a re-release? If not what was the reason behind the choice to do Z-wear again? As an ...

Re: Will the Manix 2 Salt ever be released?

I got mine the other day. I'm very happy with it! Came perfectly centered with great fall shut action and zero blade play. The scales are very aggressive which is what I want. I was thinking about doing some upgrades but I don't think I'm going to now. Only thing I might change is the plastic ball ...

Will the Manix 2 Salt ever be released?

I've been waiting on the all black Manix 2 Salt to be released for awhile now. Several new releases have come and gone since it was announced. I was really surprised the the Shaman Salt that was just announced is already hitting dealer's. @sal any word on these?

Re: MT46S MagnaMax SE Testing Thread

Crucible produced two heats of MagnaMax. Spyderco used the second for the "MagnaMax" mule. The more limited "Proto X" mule used the first heat. There were some small modifications attempted between the first and the second. These were prototype heats for analysis to determine if the steel hit the ...

Re: MT46P Testing Thread

My Magnamax mule was super easy to put a new edge on. The edge was ok out of the box. It was super toothy with a slight burr and a multi angle bevel on both sides. I was lazy and didn't completely clean up the old edge bevel but set it to 17 degrees top to bottom. I was able to get a great burr at ...

Re: Let's talk Mule Team quantities

I think the current system works and makes some mules more desirable with a sort of collectors value. With super popular releases like Magnacut, 15v, and Magnamax you'll have people that miss out unfortunately. On the opposite end you're going to have a flop here and there with some steels that don ...

Just out of curiosity are we looking at 4th quarter 2025 or first quarter 2026 on the magnamax mules? Or is it still a secret?

Manix for sure! I know there's a love/hate with DLC especially with stainless steels but I love the Black DLC/Green micarta look like with the Blade HQ Shaman I have.

Yeah with current inventory and how long they've been there it might be a bit.
Over 880 mules in stock not counting the spy27s. Almost 600 of those is the VG XEOS.

Hi Roman,

Good to see you here.

Alex, our Purchasing Manager, is trying to get some steel samples of Nitro X7, so we can plan for a Mule Team.

Thats cool! Can't believe a steel I suggested is being considered for a Mule. Love how much you guys stay in touch and work with the knife ...
