Re: What are your top 5 Spydercos right now?

1/ K390 Delica. My cardboard workhorse. I’ve patinad it and I use it with a lanyard and no clip and that makes it the most ergonomic knife I have. I’d love to swap this out with a MagnaMax version (wink wink).

2/ SE Stretch 2XL,VG-10. This is my personal steak knife, I use it in the kitchen daily ...

Re: MagnaMax wish list

I would be down for a Delica in Magnamax!

Please this. I would be really sad if the only knives in MagnaMax are the ones in MagnaCut. Seki doesn't have anything here yet, so that would be awesome.

My favorite steel is K390 except for the corrosion aspect, which is why I go with other steels ...

Para 3 LW - Magnacut or 15V??

I use a k390 delica for my cardboard cutting. I love it and only need to sharpen it monthly at most. Recently I’ve been wishing for an easier one hand operation. I would like a para 3 LW.

I’m not worried about corrosion. Curious if I’ll see substantial differences in 15V v Magnacut or if both will ...

You really should try the MagnaCut Chief, it's a beast.

I still have a suspicion that 15V would have been awesome in SE.
How did I not know there was an SE version of this??

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

tl;dr

SE are the bees knees and you need to get with the program. Just as with PE knives, not all SE knives are created equally and different combinations perform better than others. Towards the end there's a bit of why I'm bothering with all this if you'd like to read that.

I think I want more serrated options

Maybe I’m crazy. I know spyderco just discontinued their SE K390. But I love my serrated knives. I primarily have less wear resistant steels in SE: VG-10, BD1N, H1/H2, XHP, and LC200N.

I use the VG-10 manbug leaf for my keychain, the VG-10 stretch 2 XL for a kitchen knife, the BD1N para 3 in the ...

Re: Which Spyderco models should be discontinued to make room for newer models/variations?

Here's one. I would get rid of all zome variations to make room for pure white FRN that I can dye to any color I wanted.

Re: MagnaMax wish list

Where does this leave k390? Will it be preferable in any circumstance?

K390 sharpens easily and works with almost all edge grits and works with thin edges. Will MM also?

Also will MM be available in the Endura series?

I sincerely hope that MM makes it to seki. Really sad that MC has not ...

Re: First CPM SPY27

How is it that new production knives are launching with SPY27? With Crucibles bankruptcy I would have thought that the limited supply of SPY27 would warrant sprints or exclusives.

I like SPY27, and am hopeful this may mean there’s another source?

Speaking of wrong muscle memory, how many people have the Sage 5 muscle memory ingrained in them? I just got my Sage 6. It's got amazing quality, but I keep trying to operate it like a Sage 5! :)

Re: Let’s talk about Manbugs

I've been thinking about getting a Manbug Leaf myself. I'm just not sure how I would like such a small knife. Maybe I'll wait for a good sale to try one out. The SE version is the most appealing.

EDIT: I find your label of a "Mini-Lil' Temp" to be intriguing as I really like my Lil' Temp!

Re: H-1 steel

How is Spyderco's serrated H-1 steel compared to the new H-2 steel?

All I know is that H1 is a wear-hardened steel, which means the serrated teeth get stronger and harder with use; H2 steel doesn't have this property, it's already as hard as it's going to get.

Re: Is the manbug leaf panning out?

Personally, I like the leaf and wharncliffe manbugs a lot better than the original blade shape. Shoot, I prefer the sheepsfoot one over the original (LC200N and bright green FRN version when?). That blade shape just doesn't work as well for me in a small knife (I mostly use them for opening ...

Also want to add that before the leaf came out, a PE wharncliffe version served 90% of my needs. Such a great platform. But the belly of the leaf unlocked another 9%.

Is the manbug leaf panning out?

Aside from breaking down cardboard (k390 delica) and cutting up rotisserie (vg-10 stretch 2 xl SE), for me pretty much the entirety of my EDC needs is served by a ladybug or manbug. For me personally the manbug fits the hand better. The belly is useful, as are serrations, so I go for the SE leaf ...

When I was browsing spydies today at a local gun & knife shop, I got to inspect a magnacut SE Native.

That knife has a seriously thin edge. FFG blade, chisel ground, very wide bevel on the show side.

I bet those slice extremely well.
