Re: Is k390 overrated?
Over rated? No way! I wouldn't call it my favorite, but it's still a great steel. IMO it's a lot like Cruwear but less stainless. I live in Washington State, and it got a patina pretty quick. I don't even carry it that much. Now I just keep a coat of oil on the blade and all is good. No rust to ...

Re: Is k390 overrated?
the thought of K390 being overrated immediately makes me question the OP's sharpening methods and materials.
I will admit, my sharpening technique can be a lot better. Is it possible that a very small, undetectable burr on the k390 will initially pop hairs and whittle, but mush over in a few ...

Re: 2026 Forum Calendar Contest!
This past Wednesday, I asked my wife, @hvandyke34, if she wanted to go do a knife photo shoot at Christine Falls on Mt. Rainier. I picked Mt. Rainier as I grew up in the shadow of the mountain and spent a lot of time hiking on it. Oddly enough, I had never been to Christine Falls, which is why I ...

Re: MagnaMax wish list
A personal survival knife (PSK) sized fix blade would be nice. Especially since it will probably be hard to get a mule considering how fast the Magnagacut mule sold out. So a 3” fixed blade would be great.

Re: 2026 Forum Calendar Contest!
I don't think I've ever submitted so early, but I have a hard time finding time for photos these days. I also rarely take horizontal photos. All that said..
I've always loved the way this photo of my C52FPGYE Spyderco Calypso Jr turned out. I find the patina on this knife, and they way it pops ...

Re: 2026 Forum Calendar Contest!
This year’s submission is of the new Bodacious SPY27. I took it at the peak of Mt Phelps, one of the 46’ers in the Adirondacks while hiking with my oldest son. While small (4161ft) compared to the Rocky Mountains it was still a 6.5hr 9 mile hike giving great views of Mt Marcy, tallest peak in the ...

Re: Calendar Contest Reminder & Request for Feedback
Edit - my wife made a comment that made me think that I sometimes don’t think at all. She said she and our daughter rarely login and if I’m going to complain about those that are inactive or just joined for the contest then I’m complaining about her also. Sigh, sorry. Welcome everyone.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
Yeah agree that SE knives are great and have a purpose. That’s why I carry both a plain edge and SE edged knife. Ever since I got the Leafjumper SE K390 it has stayed in my pocket and it bumped the Salt 2 SE LC200N out of my EDC rotation. The plain edge knives keep rotating though. That may have ...

Re: Spyderco Sharpener Necklace
I saw this Arkansas sharpening stone necklace and thought it was a pretty neat way to carry an emergency/edc/backup sharpener on your person.

Any chance at a CPM 3V sprint run?
Been waiting and hoping for a Sprint run of CPM 3V. Would love to see it on the Native 5 and Chief. Figured I would ask instead of waiting with Crucible no longer around. Hoping some stock of this metal is still available.
Edit - the Canis with 3V would be awesome.
