Spyderco Photo of the Week - Book

#1

Post by TazKristi »

Over 10 years ago, the Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest began—a member-led contest sharing some great images of Spyderco products. Back in February, Sal proposed creating a book with the images. It's taken me a little while to organize the process, but we're ready to start.

If you have submitted an image in the Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest and would like to have your image included in the book, please follow the directions below. But first, some important details.

Content Restrictions:
  • The submission must not contain any copyrighted material.
  • Your submission must be entirely original and created by you.
  • Images may not contain any promotional material – this includes trademarks and logos for non-Spyderco businesses, even those for personal endeavors.
Obligatory Fine Print:
Submitting your information and uploading an image does not guarantee inclusion in the book. If the high-res image you submit does not meet requirements for printing, your image may not be included at our discretion.

Submitted images become the exclusive property of Spyderco Inc. Uploading your photo grants unencumbered, free usage, and printing use solely to Spyderco Inc.

Submitting your image is a two-step process. You'll need a link to the image you posted, so please get that before clicking the link below. If you have multiple images, please submit them individually. To copy a link directly to your post, please click the small paper icon directly to the right of the post number.
Screenshot 2025-04-23 081401.jpg

Once you submit your information, you'll see a confirmation with a link to upload your image to our WeTransfer. WeTransfer allows you to upload high-resolution images without limits.

Visit: https://www.spyderco.com/forumbook/ to start your submission.

Thank you!

Kristi

Hi Kristi, silly question perhaps but still need to ask it - there is going to be a book made out of selection of those photos?!?!?!?

That is absolutely mind blowing, hope you will print enought of them so even some people from outside of Europe will be able to get their hands on one. Wonderful news.

This is a really cool and unique opportunity! Thank you @TazKristi and Spyderco!

I will definitely go through the thread to find some images I’ve submitted that might be worthy of including in an official book! :star-struck

I imagine there is a cutoff date?

Just thinking about people who may submit photos to the Photo of the Week thread in coming days/weeks.

Great question, it may take some time for some to research their entries . MG2

This is a fantastic idea @sal @TazKristi
I look forward to participating

Do we have resolution requirements and size, similar to the calendar submissions?

Lighting probably isn't good enough to make the cut. I'll see if any others from my trip turned out better....

Yes, at some point, I'll have to close submissions, but I didn't want to set a date on that just yet. Given the thread has been running for over 10 years, I want to give everyone ample opportunity to submit their images. I'll let everyone know ahead of time when we need to close submissions.

The only requirement is that the image is high-resolution (likely the exact resolution as your original image, not the file you posted, as the forum has size limits). Since we're talking about images that are already done (some of them were posted years ago), I can't really require a specific size or orientation. We'll work through how to manage portrait vs landscape, and the other challenges, once we have the images we'll create the book from.

I hope that helps.

I think it's a great idea, and i'd love to submit my pics. However some of them are lost from image hosting sites that went belly up, and some that i found searching my posts i don't know where the originals are anymore.. :(

I have the same problem with tinypic shutting down years ago.
Also allot of the original posters with amazing pictures are sadly no longer active on the forum.
Miss allot of those wonderful members today.

I must be really tired but I just spent 10 minutes trying to understand how things work. I think I'm okay now !
I haven't been much active for the past year, work and life have been demanding. But the Photo of the Week thread is definitely my favorite. Seeeing it promoted by a book would be very nice, I'd love to have a copy when it comes to fruit.
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.
