Re: Talking Mule Team Re-runs

I don't like feeding the ebay secondary market. It just makes it even harder for collectors to get them from the official drops.

Would be in for MagnaCut rerelease, and MagnaMax that I just missed

I'm in!

I have a lot of strong opinions about what's going on over there but it doesn't change my support for fire fighters/law enforcement. I've been looking for a good excuse to get a Rescue anyway.

One of my ceramic Mules lives in my day pack. It's incredibly lightweight with a paracord wrapped handle.
What kind of sheath is involved? Is it in a Kydex?

Re: Takefu's "SPG STRIX"

Wait, there are modern steels where the manufacturer doesn't disclose their compositions? Is that normal? Are tool/knife manufacturers expected to purchase a steel composition without knowing what it is and make production productions out of it to sell? I didn't realize that was a thing.

Re: MT41P - VG XEOS Mule Team Dropping Soon

I decided to get the MT41 for meal prep when out camping and hiking. I have been using it at home and leaving it with stuck-on acidic foods and it was fine, as expected. I did notice two nicks on the blade, one might have been from an accidental run-in with a pan edge, the other I'm not sure. I ...

I was hoping for something a little more re-donkey-lous for the next mule so I'm on the fence. Haven't had a lot of time to play with the flock.
Well, when we get re-donky-lous, like the HIC, then we get a bunch of complaints that its hard to sharpen. πŸ˜‘

Definitely in for 2. Would go 3 if that was an option, so I can give one to a family member 😁.

Re: Could we see a Rex-121 mule?

The mule I've put the most mileage on is the Rex 76, which has absolutely bonkers edge retention compared to anything else I've tried so far. Wouldn't mind trying another Rex family tool steel.

Curious as to what the pricing of this Mule is going to look like, but I'm most likely in for a taste.
It's already on the Mule page listed as $75. Could be a placeholder? XEOS

15V was released in the Manix platform before the MT, so not necessarily.
ah, good point. I'd forgot, and I even have that mule. Derp.

Re: What's your interest in the VG XEOS mule?

I'm getting the XEOS because its name sounds like a niche video game console from the 90s. 🀣

But seriously, I think it depends on how much of a boost to corrosion resistance we are talking about. I don't have experience with VG-10 (its popularity is before I started collecting/tinkering with knives ...

Re: Could we see a Rex-121 mule?

The latest Reveal has several Rex-121 knives in it. Is it accurate that there wasn't a Rex 121 mule? Now that the knives are going to be made, does that mean we won't see this as a Mule in the future?

Very nice handles! I had a question about working with rosewood. I read that it's an irritant on the skin/eyes, etc. any experience with that? Any precautions/advice?

Here is my setup with the bar in vertical position for the contact wheel. This is before I did the horizontal mount for the platten.
CasperFantone, what kind of scales are those on the Mule? They look fancy!

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

I was ready to give up on it until I started cutting up some cardboard with it. It performs at a much higher level than the edge would have me believe.

I do think that this material might do best with a coarse edge. Need to play with it some more.

This is an interesting observation, because ...

Re: You got your Ceramic Mule. How you gonna sharpen it?

I have some relatively inexpensive gritomatic diamond stones (240/600/1200) I've used with a worksharp using the gritomatic upgrades. I've had good success getting very hard steels (e.g. Rex 76) back to screaming sharp. I've had *very little success* getting kyocera ceramic knives back to sharp ...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Got mine suited up with Halpern scales and the HIC Kydex sheath. I've previously avoided getting kydex sheaths because I'd already bought some blank sheets, as well as thermofoam and supplies to *make* my own kydex, but I didn't want to mess around with the HIC unprotected.

The edge is indeed less ...
