Why does the Chap SE get so much more love than the PE
? I tend to carry the FRN PE more than any other variant. The lockbar takes less pressure to unlock than the CF model and the PE blade is more versatile.

To me actually SE is more versatile than PE.

- SE does most EDC folder tasks better than PE in my use, stays sharp longer, still separates matter well when actually NOT "sharp" anymore and is a tad easier to sharpen.

- Only areas I´d prefer PE (again, for an EDC folder!) is if I had to scrape stuff from a surface or carve really detailed forms out of wood (for just making rough notches or pointy sticks though SE performs way better, mostly due to the steep chisel grind. For very fine feathersticks it is a dream anyway).

- Even for the basic food prep I tend to do SE cuts better (and again: Will still do the job if actually not really sharp anymore).
Of course for higher levels of food prep and Chefs obviously PE is the way to go!

/ "Why does the Chap SE get so much more love than the PE?"

- Well, I don´t think that this is the case in the "general market"... rather the very opposite would be my guess

- But here on this forum the reason will probably be, that the steep chisel grind and great serrations make the thin stock of the Chap blade shine even more and bring it to its full potential... ?
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

You guys living around all that good fishing that close are disgusting lol. I hope you feel guilty, at least lol...
Back home I fish in my local fjord, which isn’t all that great anymore. You can get decent fishing from a boat, but I usually fish from shore and I’m happy if I can catch one or two if I’m out for a couple of hours.

Now we’ve rented a cabin out on the coast, about two hours drive from home, and the difference is ridiculous. Yesterday my impatient son couldn’t wait until breakfast to start fishing, so he went down to the water for 15-20 minutes while I made breakfast, and he caught two large cods just in that time :)

Softbait jigs has been the most successful approach so far, while I have yet to catch anything on my surf rods, which is a bit surprising. In the fjord back home it’s usually the other way around.
It’s a lot of fun catching catching fish on our casting rods, so I’d probably be better off dismissing surf fishing all together, but I’d really like to figure it out in order to maybe add some species to our list. Only cod and Pollack so far on the jigs.

3.5" Chaparral concept model.

I’m approaching Gernot’s levels of excitement at this! 🥳 The only time I’m without my Chap LW SE these days is when I’m in the shower or asleep, it is THAT GOOD a knife design (and to be honest I often fall asleep with it in my pj shorts - it is so slim). The potential for their being a larger one got me so excited I went and told my wife… who stoically humoured me like the wonderful woman she is 😂
I honestly can say I never have checked out the Chaparral and only because of the shorter blade length. What I am reading from you here is its a really great knife lol... but Spyderco makes a host of really great knives; honestly I don't need one of each model.
The bug bite around this forum is really bad lol...
Seriously nailed it with the bug bite comment. One bite and you have a serious case of FOMO. Tried to limit my collecting to the military and native family lines but the the Swayback and LeafJumper got discontinued and I just had get them.
