Excellent review. Could you point out the differences between the first run and the second run of the Spyderench
My question exactly...I recall there were significant differences between first and second run of the Spyderench...would like to see a rundown of what those differences were.

A tank of a knife is the Manix.
Of big leaf-shaped blades, I'm a fanix.
What Eric bestowed
Is sadly disco'd
So I'm in a state of near panix.

Something For Everyone
These results have something for everyone, whatever your opinion of 8Cr13Mov.
If you like 8Cr13Mov, you can use this data to say, "It's as good as VG-10."
If you hate 8Cr13Mov, you can use this data to say, "It's as bad as 420J."

Did you check this link?
Recently there was a good thread on steels. It was short and to the point, but went beyond mere opinion. I recollect it was a sort of "spydipedia" posting on steels, that included a lot of different forumite's impressions on various steels.
Ah, here it is:

I agree with Franco's Original Post
OK, I read STR's response, it's well thought out, backed up by evidence, and enlightening as always.
But I still agree with Franco's original post. I don't expect or tolerate blade play in new quality knives.
You have to admit that, to some extent, quality is in the eye of the beholder. There ...

It's all about quality.
I mostly lurk, but after reading the entire thread, I have to add my bit. I examined the Tenacious, and while it’s an attractive design, I didn’t think it was up to the level of other Spydercos I own, so I passed. Also not a fan of 8Cr13Mov. My opinion? The Chinese have a ways to go before they ...

Sounds great.
I can't wait to get a couple of these in CF, Sal. They sound darn near perfect. IMO, the CF is well worth the money in the long haul, if the knife is carried and used lots.

Thumb Up for Back Bevel.
After working with no relief bevel for years, I've seen a big improvement in slicing since using a back bevel. Last back bevel I cut was around 12 degrees per side. Plus, the back bevel makes resharpening a breeze.

Opinionated
I know your post isn't looking for opinions, but sorry, I don't know the time of the switchover from 4 barbs to fine jimping. Wish I knew; looks to have been sometime in 2007 by Blonde's post above.
I do have an opinion though ->> I like the fine jimping much better.

Woodworking & Chisels
Greetings forum.
I don't understand why 15 degrees per side would be considered "radical." In the world of woodworking, it's commonly recommended to grind a chisel at 20-30 degrees (inclusive). The 30 end of the spectrum is for hard use mortise chisels, where you're whacking them with a hammer ...
