There's nothing I don't like about the Delica, but I would prefer the Endura handle to be a bit broader towards the lanyard hole. I sell knives (mostly to fund my own addiction), and Cold Steel is one of the brands I work with. I never liked their advertising style, but I know loads of people who do.

I have a few of their products and they work well. I haven't tried any of the weird things that they do on their DVDs, though ...

Like Deacon said, it can be a bit harder on regular flat stones. But it's quite easy with a curved stone like the Spyderco Pro-files, ceramic sharpening rods or just sandpaper wrapped around a pen.

In no particular order:

-Delica (blue FFG, G-10 FFG, and the good old black FRN one)
-Temperance 2
-Mini Manix
-Tasman
-Endura 3

Those are the ones I use the most, but there are others that I love dearly as well.

So far my issues with Spydercos have been:

-Vertical blade play in my Spyderhawk and Tasman. I honestly don't know if they came like that from the factory or it developed through use. It's very noticeable and the knives are less than a year old.

-Uneven grind on my Chinook 3. Looking at the tip ...

I bought a few Titanium Militaries to sell (I'm a part time dealer), they arrived more or less at the same time as the announcement of the new version was made. Now my customers aren't interested in them and prefer to wait for the new ones.

Whether you're planning to start a knife collection or just have a few to use, good quality sharpening equipment is a must. If you like the Sharpmaker, go for it. It's a good sharpening system.

I'm a die hard believer in freehand sharpening, though. It takes more practice but it is worth it.

I'd go for something different from a Delica just to try out some of the other options available. The Delica is made in Japan, so you could go with a Golden made model (every Spyderholic needs a Golden model!) with a different lock, steel and handle material. There are several well within your ...

Hellhound, I've tried out the 2010 Recon 1. It's definitely an improvement over the old one when it comes to size and weight. The blade length is the same but the all G-10 handle is slimmer and a lot lighter. The clip is also better placed so that a lot less protrudes from the pocket.

I use mine pretty often (it's in my pocket today) and I'm thrilled with it. The handle fits my big hands very well and the flat ground S30V blade is a wicked slicer.

The Ayoob is one of the old models that really makes me wish I got into Spydies earlier. I love it, and would buy one or two if there was a sprint run.
