Re: What's wrong with S30V?

There are other steels that I prefer to S30V, but my number one consideration for buying a new knife is ultimately whether or not I like or think I will like the design in use. So if a knife design really appeals to me (Kapara, Brouwer, LT3 for example), the steel being S30V is definitely not the de...

Gave my Brouwer a little makeover last night.. I like it, but I think I prefer the original green..

Re: Lil Native comp lock Sprint where you at

I would love to see this in cruwear/micarta! Oh yeah! But do buy at least one of the standard ones, to convince Eric & Co it'll be worth it :) I get that logic, but I also don't want to spend $130 on a knife I don't really want (when what I really want is another configuration, color, steel, etc). ...

Re: Newbie with knife steel question...

It sounds to me like the gist of what you are looking for is the most corrosion resistant PM2 possible. As others have mentioned, M390/20CV are great steels and among the most corrosion resistant PM2 variants presently offered. Can't go wrong with either, if you can get your hands on them. That said...

I would love to see this in cruwear/micarta! Oh yeah! But do buy at least one of the standard ones, to convince Eric & Co it'll be worth it :) The comp-lock Lil Native was actually my very first Spyderco :)! I bought it right around the time it first came out, though I didn't actually realize that ...

Re: Alternative to Zip-Tie Wave - Kwik Thumb Stud

^ haha I like the sentiment, but can't get behind the analogy.. fancy heels seem way more impractical to me than flip flops..

I've always thought the zip-tie thing looked ridiculous.. I suppose this looks slightly less so, but still, not for me.

Re: Have you found the one?

Voted "other." I've found "my type" for my usual edc (there are certainly a few models that I prefer over others and carry with greater regularity), but I hesitate to declare that I'd be perfectly satisfied with one specific knife (or model of knife) for the rest of my days. As others have mentioned...

Re: My STRIDERCO just came in and I'm in love !

The Brouwer is one of my favorites! I agree on the ergos.. very comfortable. For me the only downfall is the pocket-clip placement, which is remedied (mostly..) by an MXG Gear deep carry clip. Ever since I got my Brouwer, I've thought that it would look great in full titanium. I'm not sure when they...

Re: Rusty Waterway - Your Thoughts

I get the draw.. I think it's a very versatile design that would make a nice platform for [insert your favorite steel]. That said, I think the rustproof aspect of the Waterway is kind of the point. You just can't call a knife made from a steel that will rust at the thought of moisture a "Waterway." ...

Re: Fate of the spydiechef

I don't think the Chef is going anywhere anytime soon. It seems to have a very strong following. I imagine the demand for it remains pretty high... Not to freak anyone out but isn’t that what we all said about the Bowie? Fair point.. Admittedly, the Bowie came and went before I really got into Spyd...

Re: Fate of the spydiechef

I don't think the Chef is going anywhere anytime soon. It seems to have a very strong following. I imagine the demand for it remains pretty high given how quickly the incremental batches of it seem to sell out.. I'll admit, I didn't really "get" the Chef at first.. but I was interested in it enough ...

Truth be told, I normally prefer simple, humble g10.. that said, the CF does seem to add up. I can certainly attest to the "inadvertent" accumulation..

Gotta say though, I do absolutely love the peel-ply CF on my sprint run Native.. really nice!

Re: A question or two about the Li'l Temperance 3

So, I'm seriously considering a Li'l Temperance 3 for future purchase. Generally, I value design & functionality over outright materials cost: i.e., I don't mind paying as much or more for a knife that fits my hand & use-needs relative to a knife that may be built from more expensive materials but ...

Re: Help me list all the available Spyderco liner/frame locks

The Brouwer and the SpydieChef are two of my favorite frame locks. S30V and LC200N respectively..

For liner locks, the Gayle Bradley 2 in M4 is pretty sweet! Can’t really go wrong with the Tenacious/Resilience budget options either..
