Definitely worth the read. You really get a sense of the progression of the company, and an insight into Sal's philosophy of busiiness.

I just received a Crossbill PE and Pelican PE from NGK. Both are far better than I expected; fit and finish compare with mainline :spyder: s, and exceed what other companies sell for 3 to 4 times the price I paid. The edge is shaving sharp, lock-up solid, and "balance" excellent.

These won't knock ...

FYI:

Chesapeake Knife and Tool are no longer in MA. "On The Edge Cutlery" has taken over the Faneuil Hall space, with a store in Providence as well. On the Edge is far, far better than CK&T.

I'm waiting for the "Polliwog" to come out; after that, the drop-point "D'Allara."

While everyone else is wishing, here's mine. Drilled and tapped for LH carry ala the Stretch. I really want to like this knife; I love SS handles, but they're too slippery for (non-kinetic) LH opening without the clip on the correct side.

While waiting for the ball-lock drop point...

Sal:

Your recent reply told us that it will be late fall before the (D'Allara) ball-lock drop-point hits the shelves. In the meantime, could we have a PE sprint run of the regular D'Allara? That's one fine knife, and the clipped wharncliffe rocks, but the plain edge fans lose out. I'd certainly buy ...

Not a knife that got me.

Weirdly enough, it was Sal's book that got me back to the Spyderfold.

I first saw a table of Sal's knives at a wooden boat show at Navy Pier in Chicago about 19 years ago. I was visiting my not yet future in-laws, and was flat out broke, so no purchases. Then, working in a cutlery shop while going ...

Hi Deacon:

I used that name only because I'd seen it used before. In eMails with Sal, it sounds like the knife will use a slimmer version of the D'Allara handle and a drop point blade. I have no idea what the real name will be, but I'm hoping we have more news soon.

Best regards.

Any news on the D'Allara Drop Point

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the drop-point version of the D'Allara (just like I've eagerly awaited so many other Spydies). I remember Sal posting that he was carrying a prototype. Are there any updates, many even a release date?

Best regards.

Salsa Blade Swap Question

'm expecting the arrival of a pair of Al-handled Salsas with the ambidextrous clip. Is it possible to swap the ATS-34 blade from the Ti-handled model for the AUS-8 of the Al model?

I like the Ti handled model, as it is, but I really want the clip on the other side. I've considered grinding a ...

Drop-point ball lock

One of the threads had a comment by Sal mentioning a drop point blade on the D'Allara chassis. What's up with that one? Can we see any teasers?

Best regards.

Thanks Deacon!

In no particular order:

The slickness of the ss ATR gets to me, as well. I'm glad to hear about the grippiness and weight; my hands get really dry and calloused, so they slip like crazy on smooth metal; also, I like a full-size carry, even in this kniphobic city.

Flat grind is ...

Stretch and SS ATR

I posted this on BF, but haven't heard anything. I figured someone here would be able to advise:

The bug has bitten again: I've got the SS ATR, and am thinking about buying a Stretch, as well. Does anyone have both? If so, which do you prefer, and how would you compare them?

Thanks in advance, and ...

I've had success with clipping a 3/4" steel ring (either split or welded) inside the clip. It doesn't stop you from clipping the piece, you can always take it off, it's unobtrusive yet gives you something to pull.
