Well, I'm obviously biased, but I'd have the same opinion, even if I wasn't so involved: the ARK is one of the two best neck knives I know. (The other being the CRKT Folts Minimalist.)
Now that the SE version is available, you can add excellent edge retention to the list of positive attributes.

That would be a BARK. I've mentioned the idea to Sam fairly recently.

Re: Question on the SE ARK
There are only so many blade shapes possible. I told Sam from the beginning that I wanted a deep choil for the first finger, a blade with continuous curve, and for the blade and handle to angle away from each other. The blade shape closest to what I initially imagined would probably be a Jester with ...

Re: Spyderco Ark - Reviews & Impressions thread
It is a shame that the G Clip spacing is a little off to mount using the existing rivet holes on the ARK sheath. I'll take the blame for that, since I forgot to mention it to Sal until after the fact.

Thanks for the review.

There was no other knife that inspired this one.Doc Dan wrote:I do not have one, yet. However, I do have a knife that seems to have been partly the inspiration behind this knife.

The standard ARK, with the 2nd gen (retention) sheath is available now. No word yet on the serrated ARK, sorry.

Re: Bentoboxshop info?!
BBS has a program that allows members to purchase an ARK to donate to deploying service members. They then contact me for shipping information. Every SM gets their knives, and before Spyderco introduced MAP, BBS was even selling the ARKs at about wholesale price. 100% stand-up folks.

Re: Where can I buy an Ark?
The ARK is a neck knife only because it is the only practical way to carry a knife even when you're naked. For most people, most of the time, carry options other than neck knives are more secure, convenient, and faster into action.

Re: Small wharncliffe FB Spyderco?
Sam and I have a series of small knives with a different blade shape, optimized for tasks instead of defense like the ARK. Spyderco did not feel there was enough demand at the time we showed them. (Some of this may have been related to the fact that the original DKs are too small for belt carry, and ...

Re: Where can I buy an Ark?
The ARK itself is not changing. Spyderco, as you know, is in a near-constant state of evolution and improvement with all their knives.
The ARK is only 2mm thick at the spine, so it's already very easy to get razor sharp.

I don't think the DT is designed for defensive use, and would be concerned it might injure the user if used that way.

Re: Good knife to carry in a bra?
I think that the ARK will look slightly too much commando for my wife if you know what I mean.
I don't actually know what you mean. The ARK was designed to be an intuitive defensive option for deployed service members with no knife training. The first three troops who tested it were female, and ...

Re: ARK sheath
The incredible thing about H1 is not that it can't rust, but that it's strong, holds an edge, and can't rust. Rivets don't need to hold an edge.

If anyone has to use a knife defensively, your attacker should never know you have it.
