I've made chef's knives as a hobby for a while now - and 1095 run at rc64 tempered at 215 degrees is amazing for kitchen work...

It's no more brittle than D2.

With a Spyderco factory edge I think it would be awesome...

My Dad is a lawyer, and private investigator (yeah, weird combination, huh?) who does a lot of business with a large private security firm -- so, naturally, he's very interested in firearms, optics, tactical gear. I've got an m4-bladed folder and I keep the blade lightly coated in Hanwei Sword Oil all the time. I've also got a pretty decent collection of swords and they're all in low-alloy carbon steels that will rust on you quicker than you'll believe -- so I just treat it like a little sword.

I really like a lot about it -- particularly the fact that it's a double-edged folder with aggressive finger-choils -- but I'd like it a lot more if it had a wave-type opener, and an aggressive thumb-ramp for big-handed people inclined toward using a Filipino-style grip.

Spyderco - P'kal - if I'm wearing pants I'm always with this knife. Deadly.
Benchmade - Ruckus - big blade, awesome deployment, great cutter.
Emerson - Combat Karambit - has a wave, Chicago-length blade. Deadly.
Cold Steel - Recon Scout - best all-purpose fixed blade for the car.

Again, it's not the answer you wanted -- but the Civilian does deploy well from a front-left pocket into a reverse grip via an inertial opening...

I really, really, like you folks at Spyderco.

Spyderco P'kal is always in my right front pocket.

Usually I've got a CF Military S90V in my left breast pocket (I'm the kind of guy who wears blazers with graphic tees) or a krein-reground zdp-189 Endura, or a krein-reground Chinook III.

I shaved about three day's worth of facial hair with my Zdp-189 Lum -- it didn't work out badly at all. I've got coarse, quick growing, hair and have found factory edges on Spyderco knives adequate to light shaving duty; but, if I wanted to shave regularly with one of them I'd definitely get a knife ...

I would also love it if Spyderco came out with a sprint run of Yojimbos or Ronins. I bought four Swicks from the last sprint run. I'll buy any of their SD-oriented, highly ergonomic, wharncliffes in bulk.

I'd especially love it if my blue-handled Yojimbo could wind up with a recently manufactured ...

I think I have a problem.

I've got one -- it's really an incredible blade. Great edge -- and it's stayed sharp remarkably well.

Casual companions get a PE Tenacious. After three months they are allowed an upgrade to a ZDP Endura. They can pick the edge.

I'd certainly be up for any clipit in M4. The Para would be lovely. : )

just wondering if anyone has, or has seen one with the back edge sharpened...

I had my Chinook III reground by Tom Krein this February. I also had him sharpen the very end of the upper swedge.

I have EDC-ed it for more than a month and it's nothing spooky.

A new wharncliffe folding MBC knife would be excellent. I don't care who makes it -- but Janich engineered a masterpiece the last time.

If you guys started making Yojimbos in ZDP-189 (perhaps with a wave feature and a ball-bearing lock?) I would buy several. I've already got two P'kals and a P'kal ...
