Not trying to rain on anyone's parade with my "no" vote. I'd just rather see it in H2.

Re: China
Hi All,
There seems to be a lot of thought and opinions on China, with regards to knives, especially since the latest reveal.
Some say we are no longer a leader in the industry because of the latest model offerings. (Manta 4, Buttonup, Shelter Cove, Goonie). Some say to ditch China altogether ...

To each their own, but I could not care less about packaging. I want as much of my money going into the knife as possible.

Re: What’s on your current short list?
The knives I want haven't been released/produced yet: Chaparral XL SE, stainless Police LW SE, and a Gooney SE.
I'd also get a Street Beat and maybe even a Tasman if there's a nice MAP holiday like we had last year.

I don't have a clue what the future holds for SPY27, but I sure would like to see a SE option.

Re: Spyderco service really this bad
Yeah, sounds like you might’ve accidentally stripped the screw head. They might be a little pricey up front, but this is why good tools are worth it.
Regarding Spyderco’s response, if everything happened as you say it did, then I’d be disappointed too. It looks like they’re gonna help get you ...

I would also like to see a Lil' Native LW wharncliffe, preferably SE. The G10 one fits my hand perfectly but I never really warmed up to G10 as a handle material, and, for me, lighter is almost always better.

Re: Zero play lockbacks - fact or fiction?
If zero literally means zero, then fiction. There will always be some amount of play (whether it's perceptible or not) with any type of folding knife.
That said, the Chaparral and its stop pin construction really does feel like there's zero blade play. It's awesome and everyone should try one.

Re: Do you like open back knives?
My small collection of folders (four Spydercos) are all lock backs, and yeah, I’d say my preference is at least partially due to the closed back ergos feeling significantly better to me.

Re: Thinking about buying the Byrd Hawkbill ...
If you're happy with your $100 Tasman, then I think it's reasonable to assume you'd also be quite happy with the $40 Byrd hawkbill. I personally prefer the Byrd -- for me, hawbills were meant to have that finger choil, and I also like the Byrd's balance point better.
My advice: buy a Byrd hawkbill ...

I really like these new LW models, although of course I'd like to see a more premium steel.
On a somewhat related note, has there ever been talk of a Lil' Native hawkbill?

Re: Titanium Liners.
As others have said, with the liners being skeletonized it'd have to be a pretty big knife for any weight savings to be noticeable. Personally I'd rather see more LC200N liners or coated liners (looking at you, Police LW), but I'm much more motivated by corrosion resistance.

That's right; I'd forgotten about the Spyderhawk. I've never seen that Rock or those Ladybugs before, though. Thanks for posting those!

Re: Future blacked-out Golden Salt models?
I'm certain it's been thought of before, but I sure would love to see some unique Salt models released as Sprint runs.
Keep in mind, I don't know a single thing about the knife business -- I'm just a knife nerd who wants as many Salt options as possible.

I've got a hawkbill Dragonfly on the way. It's gonna replace my Harpy, which I love the ergonomics of, but the steel handle didn't end up working out for me.

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?
It'll be H1/H2 for me. A large part of that is due to my location (two miles inland on the Northern California coast), but also, I love serrated edges and SE H1/H2 has proven more than capable for my use.
