My tastes have changed...

For years all I cared about collecting was what was cool or what I liked. While that hasn't entirely changed, my tastes and opinions have shifted drastically over years of experiencing and carrying all types of production and custom knives.

While I have sold the majority of my collection, I still ...

Re: Magnacut Heat Treatment? (Production Companies)

Hi Studiousworkman,

Each knife company controls its own heat treatment its own way. We did a lot of testing on MagnaCut and we worked with Shawn Houston and Larrin Thomas to determine the best heat treat for us. We were also the first to say it had excellent corrosion resistance, which was also ...

Magnacut Heat Treatment? (Production Companies)

Hey guys,

Is there any logical explanation why production knife companies have lower HRC levels for Magnacut? Spyderco, McNees and Hogue are doing better than most. From my research, the average HRC for those companies are around 62-64.

Most other companies are doing 60-62 HRC.

Why so low? You ...

Custom Knife Makers Using Magnacut??

Hello everyone,

There have been a few that I've seen, but, does anyone want to chime in about what custom knife makers are using Magnacut regularly in their knives lately? Rather than 154CM, CPM-154, etc. I'm not asking for high end production companies, only custom makers.

Some of the makers off ...

Re: Please advise me on serrated edges

Among my several Spydercos my VG-10 Leaf Jumper has become one of my favorites. Finger choils never really “did it” for me, so most of my others are Delicas and Enduras. To each their own, I suppose.

With the demise of the Leaf Jumper I went ahead and ordered another PE, but in K390. That got me ...

Re: Manix Question

After reading some of your posts and seeing pictures posted here my interest in the Manix line has increased. Tell me about the lock on it. How do you like it compared to other Spyderco models?

The Manix 2 is exceptional. The lock is easy to actuate and has a nice "detent" because the spring ...

15V Future Models?!

Hi all,

I believe this has already been addressed but I can't quite remember so I want to ask...

Will the 15V protocol be put into production on other popular Spyderco models? Such as the Lil' Native? Para 3? Among others.

I am aware they are producing a Manix 2 lightweight with 15V soon.

Thank ...

Re: Please make Native 5 a compression lock!!

A lot of hatred I see in this thread; a few enthusiasts like myself are willing to see it happen, but I'm quite surprised about such vitriol. I know there are plenty of Spyderco fans who would love to see this change happen, because I've spoken to them personally. Many people who acknowledge the ...

Attn: Sal, K390 = Manix 2 lightweight??

Hello everyone,

Who wouldn't want a K390 Manix 2 lightweight? We would love to see this in our American models and just like the CPM-15V Manix 2, I believe this variation would be a fantastic start!

Thanks for listening and chiming in.

P.S. Sal, I'd love to hear your thoughts, sir! Thank you.

Please make Native 5 a compression lock!!

This is not the first time this topic has come up. Although, it needs to be addressed again.

Sal, Eric, Spyderco, please make the Native 5 a Native 6 with a compression lock!! Please also add a wire pocket clip!! The choil, blade shape, blade size and ergonomics can all be left the same. This would ...

Serial # stamp/laser engraving on tang of Manix??

Hello everyone,

I received my Manix 2 lightweights in Magnacut not long ago. I noticed that both knives have a laser engraving/etching/stamp etc. whatever you want to call it on the tang of the blade. Does anyone else have this stamp on there's?? You are able to notice the letter/numbers when ...

Any Yojimbo 2 Exclusives on the Horizon???

Hello everyone,

It's been a little bit since we've seen a Yojimbo 2 exclusive; not since the knifecenter exclusive.

Does anyone know if they have any exclusives coming up in the semi near future??

I've loved the idea of an S90V with peel ply carbon fiber, just a little surprised that hasn't ...

Upcoming Benchmade Mini-Grip or Full Size Griptilian Releases??

Hi everyone,

Since Benchmade removed the Griptilian and Mini Griptilian model from the custom shop, all they seem to offer is the base model of S30V and black grivory.

Does anyone know if Benchmade will release any exclusives through vendors or distributors in different steels and different color ...

Re: Smooth Precision Pens, Out of Business - Alternatives???

I also own a couple tactile turn pens. I vastly prefer the heavier stainless steel to the lighter titanium, because the stainless steel version has a much smoother action.

Another good pen I've been happy with is the Hinderer Investigator (the 'half size' one), which I've carried in my pocket ...

No personal experience with them, but Prometheus Lights also makes high end pens. darksucks.com if you want to take a look.
