Re: Is the Caly 3.5 going to get a big brother?

This design family is personally a long time favorite of mine, still keeping my eye open for any news on a new addition to the calypso family. But at the same time I’m also pretty content with what I’ve already accumulated, but new amazing knives would never be a bad thing

Re: Do you clean your micarta scales?

I often find g10 often needs the most cleaning with its finer grain peelply texture pattern, is great for trapping in dirt and debris, with frn I often think it needs to be cleaned, just so it looks cleaner, as it doesn’t really affect the more agressive texture, and all the micarta I’ve used has a ...

Re: Random: General Spydie Chat

Just thought this was cool so I decided to share it with the group. I was on eBay looking at knives, and found this gem of a folder made by Moki for beretta; IMG_7718.jpegIMG_7720.jpeg
the handle design instantly reminded me of the spyderco stretch, as you can see the shapes are pretty similar ...

Re: Shaman anomaly

Does anyone else keep saying "Shamanomaly" when they try to read this title?

It would be interesting to know something about the QC process of parts themselves, and how likely it is that a bad back spacer made it all the way to assembly.

Re: I finally figured out what "Ergonomics" are

It’s a specialized case depending on what the knife is for, there’s no one style ergonomics fits all types of knives. For edc pocket knives that are used largely for utility cutting I appreciate the style or ergonomics sal uses in his designs

Re: I finally figured out what "Ergonomics" are

Ergonomics isn’t the study of comfort necessarily, but about having features that assist the user in use, of course you want the handle to be comfortable, but it’s not the priority. Pure comfort would be like a stick of marshmallows. Which obviously wouldn’t work as a knife handle. To me, thumb ...

Re: Spear Point vs Leaf Shape?

I agree the spyderco leaf is the most functional general utility cutting tool shape, the differences between a spear and leaf I’ve gathered is spears are symmetrically curved on the edge side and spine side. Whereas the Spyderco leaf have varying differences of edge belly in relation to the spine ...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Been carrying my grail pocket knife in terms of functionality and style and personal sentimentality. Been carrying it for a couple weeks now, enjoying it as much as I imagined I would, need to stop bringing it to work so much as it’s already collected a couple nicks and scratches, but oh well it’s a ...

Re: Another thread for discussing a Chaparral XL - now that it came one step closer to become a reality

Personally the variations are slight to me, and I prefer around 3mm for an all around user! It’s fine if you disagree, I’m glad you’re excited about this concept

Re: Another thread for discussing a Chaparral XL - now that it came one step closer to become a reality

Personally quite a redundant design imo. The caly 3.5 exists, and essentially has all the features of chap but bigger.. designs are getting a lot more redundant in general nowadays. Nothing will beat the old days

The obvious difference is that the Chaparral is 1 mm (which is 33% in this case ...
