The Big C
Re: The Big C
It is worrisome that Joe hasn't been back since late July. Clearly he has more important things going on in his life, but he's been a consistent member here for long before Ive been here.
Im hoping someone here knows Joe more personally, beyond this forum, and could possibly just let us know how he's doing? His presence has been missed.

I too was wonder about Joe, wish he would pop by to update. Which is all we can do. JMHO
Re: The Big C
Does anybody here know Joe well enough to have his phone number or personal email? Would love to know how he's doing. Missing our guy!!

I also want to know how Joe is doing, and am hoping that he's doing well.

Not active since July. Hopefully that's because he's doing well or at least doing some bucket list stuff.

I'm not 100% it's him, but I'm confident enough this is JD to post it here - based on timeline, location, DOB, basic life details Joe has shared over the years, it tracks.
Tough hit for the forum community - I'll be pocketing my Cruwear Ayoob in Joe's honor.

Re: The Big C
Very, very sadly, I think you must be right.
Rest in peace, JD Spydo. You were a good man.
I too will carry my Ayoob sprint in his honour and memory.

Yes, unfortunately, that definitely sounds like him. Very sad news.

Re: The Big C
JD was always quick to recognize birthdays of forumites...for sure he was one of the most recognizable Spyder-addicts especially when it came to advocating for SE models.
I hope Sal honors him with a special SE Ayoob reissue with some Micarta handles. May not be feasible because...business. I understand.

Re: The Big C
That is very sad news. JD meant a lot to this community. His contributions and presence here on the forum will be greatly missed.
His legacy here will always be more than just his posts. I think we can all agree that JD was the driving force behind the CruWear Ayoob and Temperance sprint runs - and of course, they had to come with a spyderedge, just the way he liked them. I’ll always know those as the “JD Spydo” Sprint runs.
Rest in peace, Joe. @JD Spydo

I think you are unfortunately correct, the timeline is pretty much dead spot on.

Re: The Big C
****, I had a bad feeling about this when I posted the other day. Incredible how quickly cancer can do this. He posted this thread and 2 months later he was gone.
Joe really was a pillar of this community. Always welcoming new members, acknowledging members birthdays, obviously his devoted love of models of knives that Sal and the crew ended up bringing back to life. I'll also miss talking football with him in our football threads.
This news definitely bummed out my Saturday, but I feel fortunate to have gotten to know a bit of Joe over these past 8 years of hanging around here on a regular basis.
As Joe liked to call this place "Spyderville"...it certainly won't be the same here without him, we lost our Mayor.
RIP Joe

Re: The Big C
Terrible news. Terrible. I hope he remained comfortable in the short time since his diagnosis, and he is now in a better place.

Yes, I'm definitely going to miss Joe. He was actually the first person I connected with here, when I started posting here again in 2018. I'm going to miss talking with him in PMs. He was a genuinely good man, and a pillar of this community.

Gosh. I am a newer member and didn't know him as well as many here do, but I could always tell he had a positive influence. It's hard to hear how quick someone can go. Prayers for his family and friends at this time.
