I have a few years of martial arts training under my belt and would have to say, in all honesty, that my skill level in that context is novice at best. Just good information to have in mind if I ever find myself in a bad situtation. I have lived in a few cities for school and work, and have on one ...

Are the UKPK or upcoming Urban effective SD options?

For the MBC/martial arts experts here:

Are the UKPK (or T-mag or any non-locking folder) or upcoming Urban effective SD options?

I absolutely agree. As far as knives go, a 2" non locking day-glo orange knife sounds pretty safe to me.

That kinda leads me to thing of the Lava...as a small SD knife, is there a way, design-wise to create something that would be effective for SD that doesn't lock, or would an SD knife require a ...

I agree with the Deacon, as long as you're not planning committing a crime with the knife, or carrying it in the open, the UKPK or upcoming Urban seem totally A-ok for NYC carry. Yeah they can probably be Spydie dropped, but they don't lock open. Now that that is out of the way, it's up to the ...

Word up! The Lava is basically perfectly sized. A bigger Lava would make it a completely different knife. I think that the distinct characteristics of the Lava define what a "Lava" is. I think if you want to a different handle material just go and get it customized. I take back my earlier post, no ...

A Question for NYC LEOs....

I am confused, I know that this is a popular discussion in the forums, but it would be interesting to hear the LEO's perspective...

Are all Spyderco folders basically illegal to carry as an EDC in NYC because they are able to be opened by gripping the blade and flipping the handle out into the lock ...

Wow, ok, so I guess it can become pretty involved. But do you guys think just spritzing with some wd40, a wipe-down, and placing back in it's original box in a small airtight ziploc container is sufficient?

Now i am worried about storing my yojis in the closed position, will this damage the ...

Spyderco Safe-Queen Storage Question

I have a couple of safe queens that I have stashed away for future use as back-ups for my two current favorite EDCs.

They are stashed away in their original boxes in a drawer, but I was wondering if there is any kind of maintenance that I need to do to them every once in a blue moon, to make sure ...

I recall, before even hearing about the back cut technique, just looking/holding the Chinook III when I first got it and just going through a simple drill and thinking about how the up swept blade has different applications that aren't really possible with my numero uno favorite EDC the Yoji..

I ...
