I definitely get the desire of the Taichung folks to do a maker's stamp given the success to date in a competitive market, don't get me wrong. I'd do the same if I were them. As mentioned, the designs are impressive and well-executed - the knives are winners, no doubt. Just feels like I see that ...

Taiwan Markings

The last few years have produced some truly amazing small Spydie designs, many of which I've got my eye on. The Sage 4 in particular is one of the nicest looking, practical, capable gent's EDCs I've seen in a long time from any make!

Which brings me to this question: all question of production ...

I was hesitant to get too far into the taking apart and cleaning ritual due to the warranty policies of Some Other Manufacturers that I've perhaps grown too used to ... maybe worth a shot if I can still send it in to :spyder: , should it not work.

Yes, I adjusted the pivot when I got the knife two months ago, to increase the level of tension on the blade (so it could only be opened with a very deliberate motion). This was fine since, until this morning when I went to open the knife, and out of the blue the blade got halfway open and snagged ...

Good points and I thought this, except that I can actually see where the liner and blade are being scored by mutual contact and it's past what I think some trapped particles would create. It seems like actual metal-on-metal contact -- which, yes, is really, really strange for sudden "out of the blue ...

Caly 3 Problem (!)

Out of the blue, my Caly 3 now grinds against the right-hand liner upon opening. The blade doesn't look off center when closed. The grinding is so bad that the knife almost binds shut if I try to open it quickly, which is extremely worrisome for any kind of emergency situation.

Has anyone ...

Deacon, alas I have to consider the customs / legal view here ... :(

These are two different FRN LB3s ... and no, not a Spyderdrop, I'm talking from the handle, and only a slight flick at that. My Caly 3 takes more effort. Doing this sort of thing was utterly impossible with my older model LBs.

I ...

Ladybug 3 Pivot Tension

I just got a couple :spyder: LB3s in the mail, cute little things they are. Nicely beefed up and refined over the previous model. I was shocked, though, to find that due to the wider blade and a less firm pivot, that I could actually flick them both open with my wrist!

Given the idea behind ...

While G-10 would be amazing, I'd be more than pleased with updated FRN, VG-10, jimping (on both ramp and choil like the Caly 3), and ambi-clip (tip up)! :D

I agree, no liners ... the beauty of a D'fly is they don't weigh anything!

Dragonfly

The Dragonfly has been one of my very favourite :spyder: folders for about ten years now. I've owned two and have found that even aside from the great ergos, when it comes to size and weight vs. cutting power, almost nothing touches these little things (except maybe the Cricket). Which brings me to ...

"End-Up"

I second the advice on orienting the knife "end-up" so the profile does not show the blade from the flat/wide perspective. This is how I now travel with folders (after verifying they are legal in my destination AND transfer countries!).

My old method was to simply toss a Dragonfly or Ladybug (air ...

Thanks!

Yeah, noticed the hex right away ... interesting.

Looks like one of the darkened "heat treated" wire clips too! Subtle, must be a nice compliment to the ultra-low pocket profile.

CF Caly 3 ZDP

I see an adjustable pivot ... I didn't think previous Caly 3s had this ... and it was one thing that was keeping it out of my EDC consideration. Anyone confirm that or others with ZDP that also have the adjustable pivot?

Wouldn't the very welcome new torx pivot address any issues about being able to flick the blade open from the handle without touching the :spyder: hole? I'm concerned about this sort of thing myself.

I got my first folder (an inexpensive stainless lockback) when I was 13. While I admit I likely carried it places I likely shouldn't have at that age, I seem to have learned by that point that it wasn't just a tool and a responsibility but a privilege that could be taken away, so I did treat it with ...

The information you received was false and misleading...take it from a Toronto Copper. There are quite a few stores in the City of Toronto that sell Spyderco knives in abundance, and Cops are some of their best customers.

Hey Bowie Man,

Thanks for the post, it means a lot. If you could PM with ...

I'm out of the office until late next week, but I believe I have more than one account in Toronto. I'll let you know.

Please do send a PM if you can. I'd really appreciate it.

So, yes, I think we are stepping up to the plate. :) Hopefully you do too.

Oh, I plan to, don't worry. Not one to ...
