I just got a couple :spyder: LB3s in the mail, cute little things they are. Nicely beefed up and refined over the previous model. I was shocked, though, to find that due to the wider blade and a less firm pivot, that I could actually flick them both open with my wrist!
Given the idea behind the Ladybug ... a friendly keychain knife up for work, but generally benign to the observer ... perhaps the pivot tension on these should be a little more on the conservative side from the factory than this? They're pinned knives, so it is not easy to adjust. I still can't get over that a knife this small can be flicked open, it's amusing but ...
Ladybug 3 Pivot Tension
Hmmm.... that’s kinda strange. I have a couple different Ladybug III, SS, SE, PE, FRN all sorts of variants. None of my can be flicked open. In fact the FRN ones cant even be spyderdroped open. Sounds like you just got an oddball of sorts. If it’s really an issue you might call the warranty department and see if its something they can take care of.

Have you ever considered a career with Canadian Customs?
:D
On a more serious note. Stainless or FRN versions? When you say flick open, are you holding the handle, or the blade? I can "Spyderdrop" the SS one by holding the blade and flicking the handle open, but can't do it the "conventional" way, or do either with the FRN one.

I don't think there's much difference with the pivots of the Jester and the Ladybug 3. Well, I don't have the SS version (yet) but out of interest I tried to flick my FRN LBK3 open. Absolutely no problem. It's just as easy as with my FRN Jester. A Spyderdrop is also possible :D

Deacon, alas I have to consider the customs / legal view here ...
These are two different FRN LB3s ... and no, not a Spyderdrop, I'm talking from the handle, and only a slight flick at that. My Caly 3 takes more effort. Doing this sort of thing was utterly impossible with my older model LBs.
I wouldn't worry too much, except that these are gifts and I want to give people good tools to solve problems, not more problems! :D
