Welcome to the world of martial arts!
I have trained with some Uechi-Ryu guys in Japan who were excellent fighters.
Good choice. :)

Delica, Surefire G2, cellphone on me, Buck nighthawk in my bag.
Fenix E1 and LM squirt on the keyring.
Can't wait for my Mini Manix to arrive, maybe it will succeed where all others have failed (to replace the Delica, that is)

Nice!
I got a Field Pup too, I use it as a kitchen knife. Great little knife with a very good grip.
And as far as the sheath is concerned : there's plenty of room in the garbage can. :p

I'm afraid I'm more of the practical school of martial arts : you get hit, it hurts. I haven't had any personal experiences in 20+ years of training that led me to believe there is anything like dim mak, or death touch  or something like that. However, I do believe the mind is very powerful, so...

I always carry a Delica 3 with me.
I would like to upgrade to a Delica 4, because it seems like much 'more' knife to me, but there's one thing that keeps me from doing this and that's the less pointy tip of the Delica 4.

I don't have a loyalty towards a specific brand.
I just like good quality, but yet affordable knives.
Spyderco sells them.

Besides the obvious (wallet, keys, cellphone) I always carry with me :

- small first-aid kit
- knife (or 2 ;) )
- flashlight
- bottled water (well, not always, but most of the time)

Your roommate did the right thing

Awareness : he noticed the thugs before they were in his face
Avoidance : he crossed the street
Action : when they followed him across the street he started running

He did all the right things.

No global warming effects for you in Golden.
We had record-breaking high temperatures in Holland for the third month this year.
Some snow would surely be nice :)

We've had thoughts of refining the Civilian.

Slightly smaller more robust blade.

Ball bering lock with "wings" like the pickle.

removable wave.

Just one of the many projects we're working on.

A bigger opening hole would be nice too :)

She stares at the screen
At the little words of green
Tries to remember what to do next
There's a trace of frustration
That crosses her face
Searching for the key she should press
And I would help her If I only knew how
But these things are a mystery to me too

I'm not going into the topic of slashing vs. stabbing, because others (more qualified than me) have already explained, but there's just one little thing I'd like to point out. I have done some (to be honest : a little bit more than some) destructive (!)testing with my civilian and I don't think it w...
