Re: Byrd Gooney

Initial impression.
Well made for a Byrd knife. I think the quality is about 90% of a Spyderco knife. Some small things still i noticed.
A very small flat spot on the grey g10 (due to it being grey it´s pretty noticable)
One of the drilled holes on the front left side handle is not perfectly in ...

Re: Byrd Gooney

I just bought the Gooney. I will use and carry it as my daily knife as a nurse in Nuclear Medicine (mainly opening cardboard boxes) in scrubs. I´m not a huge fan of the comet hole but i´ll give it a try again.
Blade style looks weird but i get the shape. I carry a Spyderco Efficient now as a trial ...

20 years forum member

I just found out this is my 20th year as a forum member...
Good guys and girls came and went, Spyderco changed, the knife community changed, collecting Spyderco knives became easier (from an European standpoint) and more expensive.
A lot changed in those 20 years. Hopefully i´ll still be around ...

Re: New Satin PM2 Salt - Scale surface is different on each side

They probably flipped the G10 over and cut out the wrong side. Probably a few exists with the same problem. I would send it back. I wouldn´t start fixing it .

Re: Stok

i have the drop point version. It´s just too small for my taste and hands. The sheath is large compared to the blade. I don´t know why Spyderco keeps using pancake sheaths. I understand in a big blade but a CC knife needs a taco style sheath imho

Re: Ever have a lock fail in normal use?

I once got a cut from my P´kal because i shoved keys in my pocket. The keys pushed against the emerson opener and opened the blade cutting me twice while trying to retrieve the keys and then remove the half opened blade.
This was operator error. Do not put anything inside the pocket when wearing ...

I hope this is still active.
The main thing that keeps me from buying new Spyderco knives is well...msrp.
Spyderco knives are expensive in Europe.
And i have about 100 models.

Re: Genzow HatchetHawk: Detailed early impressions

Thx for the review. I always thought both axes Spyderco did where more "fighting type" axes for deployment into a sandbox somewhere, or home defense, instead of forrestry tools. But apparently this one can function as a woodland tool as well.
The only drawback was the baffling pricetag. Having a ...

Re: Why does like generally stay with like?

I think you have a bigger survival rate when you are being part of a clearly defined group. People and animals tend to recognise those who look the same and because they look and act similar they will become part of their group providing safety and shelter. You see this everyday. Even the neighbours ...

Pretty impressed by the Efficient

I just received my Efficient from coutellerie tourangelle. I am pretty impressed by the knife.
Made in China the fit and finish is pretty good. Only slight problem i saw was that the g10 handles on one side have a slight space between the handle and steel liners. The fit and finish are very nice ...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2025 Report

They bought the equipment. The new procedure is done at such a low temperature that the heat treatment is not affected.
Hardness of the new coating is higher then the hardness of the steel so in theory the coating is stronger then the base layer.
The different colours are dependant from the gas ...

Re: EDC rotation and edge retention

I carry a P´kal that i never use to cut anything. I keep it laser sharp. Only drawback is that i need to look for a knife to cut stuff, if i don´t have my manbug with me...
The other knives get used but the P´kal is a carry only knife.

Our lips are sealed.....we could tell you but then we would have to kill you....
Joking aside. A lot of new models, but most are concept models without the certainty of them ever coming out. Some are production models who will come out in the next months.
Due to the sensitivity of the information ...
