Return of the Warrior and/ or Respect?

#1

Post by civilian_g10 »

I was wondering if Spyderco has any plans to do another run of the Warrior (original) and/or Respect?

Welcome to the forum!
The Spyderco Warrior was truly amazing.
I did not have one but many here can tell you about it.
It was one of the most durable knives ever made as far as I know.

I thought I read that another run of the Respect was in the queue already.

Warrior in LC200N would be a nice sprint (chose it over Magnacut due to availability in Seki).

The Respect was on the 2025 discontinued list, so I have my doubts that it will making a return anytime soon.

I don’t know about the Warrior but last time Spyderco had stock of Pygmy Warriors they had to blow them out at the seconds sale for a crazy deal. From what I remember they were like $100 BOGO brand new in box. I’m not exactly optimistic that either model would be chosen for a re-run either.

It's a shame. I thought the Respect was the nicest bowie I've seen to date. The pygmy warrior was ok, but the original was much nicer.

I'd love the opportunity to buy two Respects and two original Warriors (one in black).

I could always hope for a limited sprint run.

It would be nice if they could produce them in low volume, like the Civilian.

If Spyderco does choose to do another run of either, could you possibly PM me? I would like to pre-purchase two via the dealer north of the border - Warriors and Wonders in British Columbia. They have pre-orders for sprint runs when they are announced.

That would be interesting. How does LC200N compare to H1?

Would love a chance to buy a Warrior. Especially if one of these steels is used - AEB-L, LC200N or 3V.

I'll watch the thread. Mr. Bob Taylor passed away recently. Some of his designs were quite unique.

I searched high and low for one to use as our cake knife for our wedding but didn't find one in time.

I'm not into knife fighting so I have no interest in the Warrior. It's hard to imagine using it as a utility knife, especially with the serrations on the spine.

The Respect, on the other hand, was always beyond my budget, but I would have been interested in getting one if it was less expensive.

I feel that the Respect deserves to stay in the higher end of the spectrum, it would be dis-Respectful to release a low end version - no pun intended.

For a lower end bowie, I could see a modification of the street beat/ bowie working. Add a guard and remove the finger choil.

That would be a perfect use, David. Even though it's after the event, congratulations.

If a new generation of the Warrior were to be made, what sort of modifications to the design would be recommended?

Other than maybe considering LC200N, I think there shouldn't be any changes to the original.

If we do a "Sprint" of a previously made model, we have to change something so as not to confuse it with prior models.

Would a change of steel type suffice? Maybe a boltaron sheath as well.
