Since you want partially serrated I would definately take a look at the native or the delica but for a plain edge the calypso jr. is a great knife. Also as Zac said NGK is a great store.

Japanese Super Steels

Sal/others,

I was wondering if there is any chance of a spyderco using any of the new Japanese Super Steels such as hitach YXR7 or HAP72?

I wish the spydie hole was bigger on that knife, I just think it would look better. (Not to mention for people who actually use knives, a bit easier to open with gloves or when your frozen in Canada)

I didn't say I wouldnt buy one :) , I love my Caly Jr. and I would jump on the opportunity to get a ZDP or H1 full sized Caly.

As much as I love the Calypso, I just don't like using folders in the kitchen, no need really when a fixed blade is easier to clean and you dont really need to walk away with your chef's knife in your pocket.

ZDP-189 and Cowry-X are very similiar steels, both have similiar composition and they are also both powder metallurgy steels. However, ZDP-189 is made by Hitachi and Cowry-X by Daido, both in Japan.
