Re: Is this dealer have a good rep. Newbee

Bought my first Spyderco from them in 1987/88 - A SS handle "Worker" - It is still mine.

That was my first purchase from The Cutlery Shoppe; and certainly not my last - still buy from them.

Don't overlook the Gun/knife shows in the MD/DC area.

There are usually one or two quality knife dealers at these shows that carry Spyderco.

Thanks for the info Mike. I understand the use of the Spec Ops sheath now, seeing it was to meet the specs of the Israeli military. Like you, I have no problems with Spec Ops gear.

I was surprised that the Warrior was such a loose fit in the Spec Ops sheath; I was expecting something more along the ...

Mike - That appears to be a great sheath for the Spyderco Warrior.

Do you have any thoughts, or insight into the sheath that ships with the Warrior.

Although I haven't handled your sheath, it sure appears to be superior to the factory sheath.

My understanding is that Bill Moran approached Spyderco about producing the Skinner/Upswept blade model (FB-01). Mr Moran called this a Utility Knife, and can be viewed on Page 95 of Master of the Forge , by Hughes & Price.

The drop point model, (FB-02) came on the scene several years later, and ...

John,
I'm sorry to tell you that the C41PBBK was released in March 2006. We made just over 400 pieces, which all sold out. I don't show you as an account directly with us, so it's possible that your Distributor may still have some.

Black Plain Edge Native

Does anyone know if the PE Black Native is still scheduled to be released?

Last I heard, (over 6 months ago), was that there was a limited run of 500 to be released. I have had several back ordered for customers since last winter/spring.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks/John

These show up on Ebay quite regularly - Usualy going for $80+ in the original package.

Put it on a "Saved Search" function, being specific as to "Spyderco Native Iraqi Freedom Special Edition" or something similar.

There were 300 manufactured for members of Blade Forums in 1999; they were obtained by ordering from Ironstone, (the SFO at that time), and placing your order with your Forum user name @ $59.95. Mine doesn't have the Boye detent.

I understand the grey handle Matriarchs not purchased by Forum ...

The reason the store charges the higher price is because they have it on hand for you to hold (inventory) and they have a salesperson they are paying to show it to you and answer questions. They have higher costs.

To use their service and then go purchase the knife elsewhere simply to avoid the ...

Several years ago it was general knowledge that Benchmade was one of a few manufacturers licensed by Spyderco to use the "Hole", as in their Ascent folders. which also utilized a top-lock. Don't know if that license is still in effect or not.
