Black Plain Edge Native

Does anyone know if the PE Black Native is still scheduled to be released?

Last I heard, (over 6 months ago), was that there was a limited run of 500 to be released. I have had several back ordered for customers since last winter/spring.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks/John

I have no info on the limited run of 500 you mentioned, but the spydie factory website has some 2005 stock laying around. They'll have to pay MSRP, but if they want em', they want em'. I myself bought one this way.

There is a PE, black blade up on ebay right now...bid is somewhere around $50.

I apologize for not being more helpful...

Hmmm I seem to remember buying one of those some time ago. I think they sold out. I encourage you to contact your distributor and/or Spyderco directly. ;)

NGK has had them for sale for some time. I just checked and they are out of stock, but keep an eye on it they seem to restock this model in small quantites quite often.

John,
I'm sorry to tell you that the C41PBBK was released in March 2006. We made just over 400 pieces, which all sold out. I don't show you as an account directly with us, so it's possible that your Distributor may still have some.

I was told it did not go into full production. Only a few hundred have been made and they do not plan for a full production in the future. Kind of a sleeper knife for the collectors. I know that Savson Swords & Knives had quite a few left.

Taz - Thanks - That is info I was looking for. I have backorder with Blue Ridge - Although they have shown them on their web site since the first of the year, it always lists them as on "Back Order" & I question whether they ever had them in stock.

Thanks again to everyone.

I hope this event doesn't sour your desire to carry Spyderco knives...I can't think of anything better than paintball and spyderco in one store!

ZEN - It certainly doesn't deter me from selling Spydercos. A PE Native has been my EDC for 10 years :D . My first pocket clip, one hand opener, was the stainless Worker, purchased around 1987; and was carried every day for a great many years.

Spyderco has been THE knife as far as I am concerned for a long time. I carry a small selection of some of the more popular models; and will continue to do so :) .

I can't say enough about Sal and his hands-on operation of the Company, and his and Kristi's participation in the different Spyderco Forums ~ they are appreciated.

Has there been another run of these?

I have been seeing more of them becoming available. Are they going to go into "regular" production?

Ken,
No, I'm sorry there hasn't. Just the original 400 (+). At this time there are no plans for it to be regular production.

I just had to cancel a backorder because I was informed by the online knife purveyor that they contacted Spyderco and were informed that this particular model is/will no longer be produced. I guess that makes them somewhat of a rare bird now. I just got my hands on two of these thank goodness.
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.
