Easy, there. I don't think the company is going anywhere. Search "Kiss the balis goodbye" and "the Spydie fund" for other news.

I figure so. But Spydercoo isn't run out of Sal's garage now (and as so many good businesses start that way, it probably once was) and is almost certainly able to absorb the damage and move forward.

Maybe you should buy two Spydercos this weekend, just in case...

Already there, I just ordered three from Savson. The wait is killing me.

Order more spydercos, and respectfully, leave Spyderco's business to the owner. If Sal wanted our opinion, he'd likely ask. Once again, no offence meant. Joe

The inventory number is presumably based on MSRP (so they can brag about as big a number as possible). I have no idea what margins are typical with knives, but obviously they sell knives to retailers for much less than this, and of course they make them for less than that.

No fun, of course, but it's not quite as bad as the number would make you think.

Meoman, check what the forumites are doing to help out, see the thread entitled "In Memoriam…The Fly Fund" which is currently at $5506. (Not surprisingly, it was Doc Snubnose that carried us past the $5K mark--heh heh heh.)

Actually, it was a converted bread truck with a Volkswagen Beetle in tow. ;)

Hi Meoman,

Thanx for the concern.

It was a hard hit.

We think we'll survive. We're tough, tenacious and persistent.

We don't know "why us?".

They did permit the parts to enter for more than two years before they began their investigation.

All parts were declared and all duties paid.

We think a phone call would have been easier.

A speedbump in the road. With the variety and quality of Spyderco knives out there, I don't think there's anything to worry about. I'll keep buying em.
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

Also factor into the loss, the R&D, and development costs of a knife you might not be able to make now.

Even so, I am sure they will survive, but I am sure it did stink...
