Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

I normally reprofile the next weekend.

A week with the factory edge is enough to remind me again why I enjoy much thinner edges!

It’s hard to be satisfied with the performance of a Prius when you are used to a Mustang. :D

Re: Any well worn knives?

I'm surprised at how many factory edge grind lines are visible in this thread. A few, for Vivi... ;) Superblue Stretch when it was still beautiful, after a very flat convex and micro https://i.postimg.cc/c4DzY7cM/588-C0-A06-81-E4-4-C4-F-A1-D7-5-F9871109-C27.jpg Original M4 Millie https://i.postimg....

Re: Factory edge poll

Voted yes, because factory edges are all pretty coarse.

I reprofile most of mine to 12-13 dps soon after arrival and maintain a micro bevel at 15 dps.

I prefer smooth for IWB carry. This Native checks all my boxes.

Re: Knives you rarely carry but hesitate to part with for non sentimental reasons?

On seeing a prototype of this one, I was all excited, not least because of the 3V, then came the dimples. Like you, I probably wouldn’t have carried it much either. Must be quite a cutter, though. The dimples are not too bad in person, but it’s a heavy beast and too much knife for my idea of EDC. I...

Re: My experience with the Caly3

For those of you who long for a Caly with Golden Co quality and tolerances, try the new Heinnie G10 UKPK... It hits the spot!

Locks are overrated! :p

I like thin flat smooth scales, with a generous chamfer, like the Sage 2 or Spydiechef.

Re: What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"

I really like all these ti folders because they are thin and carry easily. The ti Chaparral is a standout. It’s as skinny as the Victorinox alox Cadet at 8.5mm. Solid little knife that disappears the the pocket. Another favorite and hugely underrated IMO is the PITS. It fits my large hand perfectly....

Glad to hear you’re liking it Jazz. Did you notice the little ramp up on the spine of the g10 when it meets the jimping on the thumb ramp? It’s a subtle change but I think it helps the ergos a bit.
I did not notice until you mentioned it, nice refinement!

I think I prefer this model to the locking Caly’s... Thin blade, linerless G10, and no up/down blade play as with many of the Japan back locks!
