Re: What's up with Spydiechef's lockstick?

My pre-CQI had lock stick for the first year, but smoothed out a lot with regular use.

Re: Li'l Native Slip joint: Perfect pocket knife?

Does it still have that ridiculously thick blade? If so, then it is far from perfect. It could have been perfect, but no. I have to echo this. The Lil Native sure is a very cool design, but functionally speaking for me personally the furthest away from "perfect" as a cutting tool in the line of Spy...

Re: Help me decide - Endela or stretch k390?

Stretch for me. The handle shape fits me perfectly, and I’ve always liked the shallow choil over the ricasso of the Endura family. Straight spine and sharp tip seals the deal.

I’ll most probably get a UKPK Salt, K390 Stretch, and Cruwear PM2. Thanks Spyderco for making these regular production models!

Re: Spyderco Military Observations

The Military is one of my favourites! It is the first knife I reach for when I have to do a lot of cutting, or when I go camping. I recall my first impression of the M390 model in 2012 was how “ridiculously” large it was for a pocket knife. At the time I was used to SAKs, and thought the PM2 was lar...

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

Unfortunately most mid-range Spydies are now over the price limit that I am prepared to pay to get to my door in Aus. I am afraid we are in the same sinking boat with the other international mates from Europe and elsewhere who have commented on this thread. I feel fortunate that I could build a medi...

Re: Looking for SpydieChef feedback

I’d say the Spydiechef is a good EDC, especially if you tend to cut a lot of food/fruit on the go, but it is no kitchen knife. It is too short and thick behind the edge to compete. It dulls noticeably quicker than S30V in my general uses, but it is ridiculously easy to sharpen again. I carry mine qu...

I’ll see if I can post a photo in a few days (travelling now). https://i.postimg.cc/ryPnXg6j/B938291-A-BC63-45-E2-994-A-5-D9-B35-E30-D27.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/rs3Q1yG3/858-DB6-D0-DBAF-49-BC-9-F07-54-FFA94618-C5.jpg I like the size, same handle length as the PM2, but slightly longer blade.

Re: Spyder Classics: The C-58 JD Smith model

I have a serrated ATS-34 model. It is one of the most comfortable Spydies I have, it just melts in the hand with the smooth micarta and well rounded edges.

I quite like the big ricasso as a choil. I’ll see if I can post a photo in a few days (travelling now).

Re: Still looking for UKPK in new steels and colors

I like the UKPK way more than the Delica. It deserves a nice handle and steel combo!

It carries so well IWB, for that reason I would like to see it in a good stainless steel. SPY27 feels right to showcase a great model from Golden Co. 👍

Re: What do you think of metal handles?

I like Ti handles on the Sage 2, Spydiechef and Pits. Ti elevates a knife from being a workhorse to a more classy gentleman EDC role. It gives a feeling of quality and durability and solidity that appeals to me. Grippy handle texture is less important for EDC if the handle locks the grip in because ...

Re: Have you owned a Spyderco lockback with zero play?

I have 5x Native 5’s, 4 are rock solid, one has a tiny bit of play.

No play on the ti Chaparral.

2x Caly 3’s, Delica, Salt 1 have some play, but is acceptable.

1x Dragonfly and 1x Ladybug developed significant play over a short time.

Re: FRN/Lightweights: I just can’t get into them

The find the lightweight FRN models to be very functional and durable. They make good work knives. For EDC though I agree with the OP, and I prefer Ti or CF or G10.

It will probably become a highly collectable cult model. :)

For me it is too heavy and too smelly, and I like metal (ti) handles!
