I’m done for 2019.

For 2020, I am waiting for the Siren. Also want something in a reasonable EDC size in K390, preferably in a Golden Colorado back lock.

Re: Micarta Shaman 2nd Sprint Run

I hope Spyderco picks a true CPM Cruwear equivalent. I fear that any other steel, like for instance CPM 3V or 4V, or handle colour will just trigger another feeding frenzy for people to ‘complete the set’.

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Yay! Thanks Sal... With such high USA demand, it is practically impossible to snag one from Aus with the time difference. I always seem to be 20 hours late for the party. :o

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

I like:
LC200N - good balanced steel on the corrosion resistant side of the spectrum.
CPM-Cruwear - good balanced steel on the tougher side of the spectrum.
M390 - good balanced steel on the wear resistant side of the spectrum.

Planning to try K390 soon.

Pits. Such a unique slip-joint design, it actually feels like it has a lock. Chunky but slicy at the same time, super comfortable handle. After two iterations, I figured it was unlikely to see a sprint in the next decade. I bought two. :) I missed out completely on the K390 Urban after I had it in m...

Re: Is the Siren a Salt?

Thanks for the confirmation Lance and Taz.

I’m especially happy to see this is a Golden Co lockback.

The narrow pointy blade will be a handy LC200N option to have alongside the Spydiechef.

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

I have thought about using rubber bands like this before Bloke, but it defeats the purpose of carrying a one hand open (and close) knife! Back-locks only for me when I carry in waistband at 1 o’clock. Not risking 4 inches of pointy sharpened steel near the vital organs... RFP is open targ...

Is the Siren a Salt?

What a nice surprise to see the Siren in the reveal... When I heard rumors of a LC200N lock-back I immediately thought “FFG Pacific Salt”. The Siren appears to tick all the boxes for me... One question though, is it a member of the Salt family (i.e. completely rust proof)? I assume so, but this has ...

Re: Native 5 in G10 vs. Native 5 Lightweight in FRN

The FRN version is light, affordable and just as functional as the others.

I prefer the linerless G10 version even though it is more expensive. It’s just nicer.

The G10 version with liners is too heavy IMO.

Variety is the spice of life. Pick you poison.

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

Knives can be enjoyed in many ways. Some people like the looks and artistry, some like the mechanisms, some like practicality, some like edge retention. I believe many AFI’s are sadly missing out on a key aspect of knife enjoyment: cutting performance, or cutting effort. Is this aspect not at the co...

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

I normally reprofile the next weekend.

A week with the factory edge is enough to remind me again why I enjoy much thinner edges!

Re: Factory edge poll

Voted yes, because factory edges are all pretty coarse.

I reprofile most of mine to 12-13 dps soon after arrival and maintain a micro bevel at 15 dps.
