Re: FRN/Lightweights: I just can’t get into them

The find the lightweight FRN models to be very functional and durable. They make good work knives. For EDC though I agree with the OP, and I prefer Ti or CF or G10.

Re: Re-finishing Sharpmaker Rods

Has anyone here tried to re-finish their sharpmaker rods? ... I've considered ordering some loose silicon carbide grit from gritomatic and trying it on my rods. Think this would be my best bet or do you have a better idea? Welcome back mate... I lapped mine on a glass sheet with silicon carbide gri...

It does not matter if the stink comes from the metal or the reaction with your hand, it still reeks like old pennies!! ;)

It will probably become a highly collectable cult model. :)

For me it is too heavy and too smelly, and I like metal (ti) handles!

Re: I'm falling out of love with the Compression Lock

The inevitable solution to this nasty problem is to have a well rounded collection, in different shapes, sizes, locks and steels, to cater for all possible use cases. :)

Re: I'm falling out of love with the Compression Lock

The compression lock shines for those quick one-hand-open (like most Spydies), but also one-hand-close moves. But all of them causes that hot spot for me with a hammer grip, the Shaman included.

For extended cutting I prefer a Military, or a Mora!

Re: Spydiechef Closing Action

That’s why I like the safety of a finger choil on liner locks and frame locks.

If the blade closes on your thumb, the choil will prevent a cut.

Think Sage 2 vs Spydiechef. The Sage is much safer. I like both but have to be more careful with the chef.

Re: Victorinox photo and discussion thread!

My first serious love affair with pocket knives was the alox Soldier 25 years ago. The only issue I have with them is their soft blades. That is what made me discover Spyderco years ago. Regardless, they are good sturdy tools, cheap, people friendly and very rust resistant. I still combine an alox P...

Re: Appeal to bring back the stunning Titanium UK Pocket Knife

I was really annoyed with myself that I missed out on the Ti UKPK when they were on closeout years ago. I waited long to try the S110V version, and I’m carrying the HH waaaay more than had I anticipated I would... I’m definitely keen for a Ti one. My preference is for a stainless blade better or equ...

Re: I Tested the Edge Retention of 48 Steels

One question Larrin... You listed steels like 3V, 4V, 10V etc. Were these the powder metal or ingot versions?

Re: I Tested the Edge Retention of 48 Steels

Thank you Larrin! Respect... This body of work will become an important reference for future knife knuts. And I agree with wrdwrght... I shudder to think what it took for you and Shawn to obtain these data, but I’m glad you did. And I’m especially grateful that you insisted on coupling edge-retentio...

The Delica’s handle shape and large ricasso is odd. I prefer the UKPK by a large margin.

Re: Changing size comfort zone.

I started with a few 3.5 inch models, moved smaller to 2.5, and then larger to 4. Nowadays I normally EDC upwards of 3, and like the work knives to be larger around 3.5 to 4.

Variety is the spice of life...

Re: Knifeworks Exclusive Para 3, CTS-204P/Forrest Green G10

I remember when KW had their military on sale for like $140 or less it was awesome That was the best deal I ever managed to snag... They were only listed for about an hour at that price. That Military is still in use, along with its smaller brother the PM2 https://i.postimg.cc/XYhCFXSD/DSC-0899.jpg...
