I wouldn't mind if Spyderco had a product line like this available. Even though I see the lack of logic in it, I am a pretty brand loyal person, and as far as knives Spyderco is my brand of choice.

I just tried it with the clip from my CS Mini Tuff Lite. I don't know if it's the same mystery SS as the Spyderco clips, but it seemed to have similar reactions. I torched it dry and quenched it in Simple Green and it resulted in a uniformly dark color, basically the color of the Persistence clip ...

So I got a Tenacious (finally!), and decided to see what type of effect I could get with torching and quenching in tap water.

Clearly, there's a difference. It's not as dark and it's not quite as matte.

Have no fear, I got it out. I actually ended up using a T8 torx wrench and slowly broke it free. I think because the torx wrench grabs at the corners it had enough material left in the hole. The screw and pivot nut (?) were covered in locktite, so I just picked most of it out with a toothpick, and ...

Cool, I think I'll get a new pivot screw from Spyderco, otherwise the knife is pretty awesome. I think I like it more than my Persistence.

This is why torx is better than hex

I just got a Tenacious, and strangely, it has hex screws unlike my Persistence which has torx screws. A lot of you might say to yourselves, "well that's much more convenient", and I wouldn't disagree, until I stripped out the pivot screw trying to loosen it a bit. Now obviously, something's up with ...

With washers, the pivot surface area is the surface area of the washers, whereas with no washers, the surface area is the surface area of where the tang contacts the liners, which in general is larger than the washers, since washers rarely protrude from the tang area. Additionally, it's safe to ...

Well, it's going to have to wait it's turn, but that sounds like an offer that I can't refuse. :D

Thanks Sal!

Edit: Is that model still in production? I can't find any dealers who have it in stock.

Muad'Dib,

Inside the handles of the Delica & Endura are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners.

Ah, I must have missed that. I guess I can put the Delica back on my list. Really, my criticism of FRN has mostly to do with it's structural limitations. As far as feel, it definitely doesn't feel ...

Dragonfly2 Lightweight (ZDP) my first FRN

I just received my Dragonfly2 Lightweight with ZDP-189 steel and green FRN scales. This is my first knife of a normal size with an FRN handle(my Ladybug3 is a little too small to get a real feel of the FRN). All of my knives up to this point have either had metal scales or G-10 scales. Honestly, I ...

I was just improvising really. At first, I thought I could get a sort of patina on the clip, so I soaked it in Simple Green, because I remember a mtb chain I soaked in Simple Green for a couple days rusted up, and I figured it might have some effect. But that did nothing, and I realized that most ...

Clip mod

Since I'm not a huge fan of shiny clips, I modded my Persistence clip. Thought I'd share.

To washer or not to washer

I'm just curious, but how does Spyderco decide to use washers in a knife or not? Is it related to lock type? The lock-back type knives I have seem to be washerless, while all the liner-lock knives I have have washers. But the CS knives I have that use the Tri-Ad (which is similar to a lock-back) use ...

1/8 is 0.125, so 7/8 is 0.875. It's just fractional vs decimal.

The craziest I've gone for a Spydeco was 80$ pre-shipping for a burgundy micarta jester. It's not my most expensive knife purchase, but it's my worst value, I just had to have it though, since it's the knife that got me interested in Spyderco.

That sounds reasonable. I'm definitely not complaining, it's just something I thought of. I would say that you could just number them Awesome Knife #1, #2, etc. is that the names help me identify them more easily.
