Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
My wife and I visited a friend today at her new home. We helped her load a bunch of corrugated cardboard into her car. A few very large boxes needed to be cut up to fit in her subcompact vehicle. I used my K390 SE Endura to make swift work of these. As I had noticed with my Endela SE, Spyderedges ar...

Re: Any Double Bladed Desires?
Isn’t it interesting that the majority of traditional pocket knives featured multiple blades (usually 2 or 3), but modern folders are almost exclusively just one blade? It’s as if all modern folders are descended from the Buck 110 folding hunter, or maybe the Gerber LST. I really enjoy a folder with...

Re: Best spyderco sharpener for serrated knives
Yes, most versatile but is it the best for serrated knives? I am only looking for the best sharpener for serrated. I've tried various alternatives but to me the Sharpmaker is by far the best. It is very easy to keep a SE knife hair popping sharp with one and makes SE sharpening easier than PE. If y...

The new pivot screw is very handsome. Is the pivot screw’s shaft a larger diameter than the shaft of the older pivot screw?

Re: Salt steels for pool/chlorinated water.?
Chlorine is highly reactive. Regular stainless steels (300 series, etc) corrode easily. I think it’s because it reacts with more than just the iron and once the iron is isolated it can oxidize. But I’m no chemist. Chlorine disrupts the chromium oxide layer that protects the surface of stainless ste...

If you are able send it in. They have the capability to figure things out and if there is a problem solve it not only with you but anything that has to do with manufacturing or materials. I'm sure they would like to know what is going on. Joe I agree with Joe. Sending it in will help the whole comm...

Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run
Bingo! Anybody know what angle this bevel is ground at? Got this to go with it... We'll start on the shoulders of the bevel wit first sharpenings... 20240328_170543_copy_4000x2252.jpg I can check the edge bevel on mine later. I imagine 15-17dps like most Spyderco's. Galley V is 10dps, so you'll be ...

Re: Thin for the win. I'm back in.
I was never tempted by the Para3 because of the overly-thick blade. It is useful on its bigger brother the PM2 in certain tasks. The 2.5mm FFG Delica blade is plenty thick for my uses.

VG-10 is the Rodney Dangerfield of cutlery steels. It doesn’t receive proper respect for its many sterling qualities.

If we could see with unaided eyes the microscopic organisms in, on, and all around us, we would experience profound gratitude for our miraculous immune system. I often cut food with my EDC knife when out and about, but not if it’s unacceptably dirty.

Bento Box Shop’s service has been fine for me. By having somewhat higher prices, they function as a reservoir of new old stock long past the time when the lower price sellers are out of stock.

In a sense, the compression lock is a type of liner lock. The lock bar is part of one liner, it’s just not a Walker liner lock.

Re: Experienced Serrated Edge K390 users wanted.
From experience I will say this: when the CBN grinding on the shoulder reaches about halfway to the edge, you are about a quarter of the way done with reprofiling the knife. The reason for this is that you are removing progressively more steel as your reground bevel grows wider. The last millimeter ...

Re: Experienced Serrated Edge K390 users wanted.
My K390 Endura was reprofiled on the 15 dps Sharpmaker setting and has taken no such damage. Maybe I’m just more careful? It could also be that reprofiling got me past the weaker steel affected by heat during the grinding of the serrations. K390 seems to be very tough for a steel of its wear resista...

Thanks for that observation. I have a backpacking “cutting board” as a liner inside the tubular nylon, folded where the blade is. I bought a sheet of kydex to make a sheath but it did not work out. To this day, I carry the Aqua Salt on our nightly dog walks. Neighbor about a quarter mile away: http...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?
Yeah, sort of. To me, the quintessential Spyderco styling is evident in the lightweight Delica/Endela/Endura/Police knives. They have the handle, blade, lock, and ergonomics, that shout, "Spyderco!" The primarily differences are the size of each knife. But from afar, they look alike. What...

Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.
Interesting video. I wouldn’t trust that tubular nylon as a sheath, in a fall that blade could cut right through it and into the person who fell. A wooden or kydex scabbard seems safer.
