For hand powered sharpening, I would go for the Sharpmaker if it was within my price range with the add on 204D rods. If not, then I would probably use sandpaper on plate glass and an old leather belt with some hardware store rouge or mothers mag polish for stropping until I could afford the ...

I had used a Carbon Fiber harpy a while back and I absolutely loved it. I think a Ti version would be killer; other than that, I can't really think of much else worth changing to make it better.

As for the Byrd Ronin... I suppose you could try a sort-of Mini-Ronin if the price is too expensive for a Byrd Ronin based on the Original Spydie Ronin.

Just a little pre-warning:

The Ronin when in sheath does seem BIG, and at first I thought it'd be futile wearing it as a necker as it'd stick out of my shirt, but despite it's size it dissapears when worn around the neck and after awhile I find I don't even notice I'm wearing it.

Sure thing, I'll see if I can wrangle up some Standard Spydies and snap a few shots.

Just remember I suck at photography and my pics will make your eyes bleed :D

I'd have to say... If you can find one... The Persian is the way to go. The thing is a beast but looks like a beauty. I've put it through **** and it looks no worse for wear. Classy, indestructible, what else could you ever ask for?
