Factory sharpening for modified Spydies

I couldn't resist the temptation -- so I swapped the blades on my two Crickets to create an etched SS SE knife. It looks and performs great, and has been my primary EDC for the past week.

Now my question. Can I still send in my blade for factory sharpening? I realize that I voided my warranty when ...

+1 on a FRN or G-10 handle Cricket (in any color). That and a wire clip would be awesome.

Price but no ETA

Dealers seem to have a price ($93) for the G-10 Dragonfly, though still no ETA. Let's hope it is on track to release this year!

I had the exact same issue on my Urban ...

I had the same issue, but was able to solve it by simply disassembling the knife (Urban). Once you disassemble the knife, the tension on the clip screw will release allowing you to remove it.

This thread might be useful: http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38475

Also, if you did ...

Any news from BLADE?

I hate to sound overly anxious, but was wondering if anyone heard anything at BLADE? Perhaps a release timeframe (e.g., summer, end of this year, next year)? ;)

I have to say -- I just got an Urban and I love it. I think a locking version would completely satisfy my craving for the G-10 Dragonfly ...

Sharpmaker questions

I decided to buy a Sharpmaker, and I love it! I've managed to sharpen almost every edged tool and knife in my house.

I have two questions though:

1) I know that I will probably get better at sharpening with more practice, but is it worth purchasing the ultra-fine rods to create a sharper edge? I ...

Thank you!!!

You guys are awesome. I went ahead and disassembled the knife, and was then able to easily switch the clip.

I was surprised how easy it was to reassemble the knife. I guess I expected there to be flying parts and springs and envisioned nightmare scenario when reassembling. However, it's nice to ...

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the screw doesn't seem to move at all. I think I will need to send it in to :spyder: for repair (the screw is almost stripped now). I'm disappointed -- but I think my new Caly 3 will keep me occupied for a while. ;)

Unable to switch clip on Urban

I just tried to move my wire clip from RH/TU to LH/TU on my Urban, and for some reason, I cannot get the screw out of the hole. The screw on the clip side comes out easily, but the other screw cannot be screwed or pushed out (from the opposite side). In fact, it looks like the screw might be stuck ...

Spyderco Story

Does anyone know if the "Spyderco Story" will ever be re-released? I've been looking for a copy, but can't find one for less that $40.

Thanks again!

Thanks everyone for the info. Since it may be a while before we see the G-10 Dragonfly, I decided to order a SS-etched Dragonfly.

Of course, I would still prefer the G-10 with wire clip, but I think the etched version will hold me over until the G-10 becomes available.

Thank you!

Thanks for all the welcomes. So, I guess my follow-up question is whether I can pre-order the G-10 DragonFly through Spyderco? If so, is there a specific person that I need to contact at the company?

Pre-ordering upcoming knives

Hi everyone. I'm new here, and quickly becoming a fan and owner of many :spyder: 's!

I have a quick (and possibly dumb) question about pre-ordering new knives. Is it possible to pre-order knives that are unreleased? I noticed that several vendors/dealers are taking pre-orders for the carbon fiber ...

+1 on being interested. I'm on the fence about ordering the FRN model when the new one might be around the corner. I'm hoping that we hear something soon.
