When is the release date for the G-10 Dragonfly?
Sal, Kristi????
We know it's coming. So when?

p.s., if there are production problems, please be transparent to prospective customers. If I have to wait 2 or 3 months, that's one thing. If it's 6 plus, that's another. Reveal your secrets!!
SOG Bluto is out June 9. Different knife. different company. Same size range. If the Dragonfly is going to be out in the same 2 to 3 month timeframe, let us know. Thanks.

While Sal and Spyderco are often open with us about what may or may not be going on with given knives the tone of your post strikes me as a bit nervy, and it runs through all of the comments you've made in the past few months about this knife. Am I misinterpreting this? Is the call to "confess!!" just some humor on your part or are you that keyed up about a G10 Dragonfly?Venerable Dawg wrote:

It's tongue and cheek. Thought that would be obvious.
I guess not. I am as interested as the next person.jujigatame wrote:While Sal and Spyderco are often open with us about what may or may not be going on with given knives the tone of your post strikes me as a bit nervy, and it runs through all of the comments you've made in the past few months about this knife. Why is this taking so long
Come on Spyderco. The Fly is not a new production design which requires a lot of tooling and RD effort. G10 slabs is not a new technology. The wire clip is a standard now with Spyderco. A whole lot of forumites are tired of waiting for this and it should be a big seller.
So what is the holdup?

If you want a G-10 fly that bad, make one yourself. There are people who have done G-10 Lava's.
Oh you meant, you want a production piece at an affordable price point? I'd wait then =) I doubt the techs at Spyderco have been stumped by the process....it's just they have pre-released about 10 knives that have people equally freaking out.
Just to name a few: Stretch FRN, Chokwe, Manix 2.../dies

In point of fact, a Dragonfly with full skeletonized liners and G-10 scales is a new production design. It does require all new tooling and R&D effort to get right. While G-10 slabs are not new technology, they are machined, which requires programming a CNC mill at minimum. So do the liners. I want this thing to be light, and I think Sal does, too. To do that without sacrificing strength or durability will require considerable prototyping and testing.bell wrote:Come on Spyderco. I want one, too, but I would rather wait another year than see problems (and the attendant *****ing) from having them released before they are ready.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

I think the reason for it taking so long is that Spyderco wants to make the serration pattern on the full SpyderEdged one JUST right :p :D
The plain edged ones have been done already long ago......
It's just the fully serrated serrated version that takes so long

I am one of the people with a Black Micarta Lava courtesy of STR. You are right, if I want a Fly that bad in G10 with choice of color I will go back to STR and get a nice low rider clip on it. And, t will happen sometime this year.Blerv wrote:If you want a G-10 fly that bad, make one yourself. There are people who have done G-10 Lava's.

Any news from BLADE?
I hate to sound overly anxious, but was wondering if anyone heard anything at BLADE? Perhaps a release timeframe (e.g., summer, end of this year, next year)?
I have to say -- I just got an Urban and I love it. I think a locking version would completely satisfy my craving for the G-10 Dragonfly. The 2.5 inch FFG blade with jimping is excellent, and is the perfect size for my EDC.
