Any More D'Allaras in the Works?

I was thinking since the D'Allara is a great rescue knife, how about a D'Allara with the Emerson Wave Feature? It certainly has enough blade to work with to cut that shape in!

Also, though we're a bit past it I guess, what about a 10 Year Anniversary edition?

Use the smallest amount of blue loctite possible - that's all it takes. To make it easier to hold onto the screws, I put all three into the holes in the clip, and hold them there with a finger on the heads, while I apply a tiny spot of loctite to the end of each screw with the other hand, and then j...

Great replies, thank you, and great suggestions. I think if I were to assemble a BOB or similar emergency kit, I would probably choose a Temperance or Temperance II to go with it, since I'd have folders in my pockets anyways. Apologies - I didn't want to discuss Global Warming, Climate Change, or an...

Any Survivalists Who Favor Spydercos?

Now I'm not a survivalist myself, but I just watched a National Geographic special on Global Warming, and the potentially disastrous effects to humanity of a rise in temperature of 3, 4, 5, and 6 degrees. There was a guy in the program who was very much a hardcore survivalist, with his entire means ...

Next Left Hand Model?

Is there any indication of any more lefty models in the pipeline, to follow in the giant footsteps of the LH Millie? I have a LH stainless Mariner and the Millie, and know there were also LH stainless Police, and LH carbon fiber Police and Delicas a long time ago. I once also owned a used LH Terzoul...

Wow, that's an instant classic! Like the kind of knife that will be highly prized and sought after years from now. Just beautiful, and it has all of the best qualities, IMHO, of a perfect knife! American made I assume by the steel, full tang, micarta, flat ground, and a very gently curved sweep to t...

Necrothread! :D Points to you for using search. :) Assuming I understand your question correctly, the cutout is found on all "framelock" or "integral"-type lockbars - the cutout (sometimes two immediately adjacent to each other) reduce the amount of pressure required to unlock t...

Another ATR Question... Cutout in Edge of Lock Bar?

Hi - Thanks for this thread, I was puzzled by the mystery screw too. So what is the shallow cutout in the back edge of the lock bar, halfway between that screw and the locking end? It's about 5/8" long, and maybe 1/16" deep at the most. Love the ATR - just found this one used, a stainless ...

Thanks for the replies - I'd guess that most of the actual work a knife does is at the tip, or on the curve of the belly. Maybe the idea is that that last 1/2" of cutting edge where the bottom choil is isn't very useful edge anyway, and sacrificing this to move the choil forward increases the v...

Superleaf - Bottom Choil Question

I just purchased a Superleaf, and what I do not get (yet), is why the bottom choil is so far forward, well into the blade edge. It seems on initial impressions that it could be further back, more in line with the top choil, like the Para 2, and allowing for more cutting edge. The handle is that of a...

And, after all of that vitriole aimed at the CRKT and Spyderco Delica folders, down near the bottom of the page there is a small article called "How to Clean a Bloody Knife", which states that the murder weapon used was an 8-inch, black handled kitchen knife, not a pocket knife at all. Wei...

Mine is still pretty new, but the more I open it and close it, the harder it is becoming to unlock the blade - the coining seems to either be making it lock too tightly, or it is grabbing/binding the blade somehow - sometimes I can't unlock it one-handed, I have to use both thumbs, and I have strong...

Thank you PSU - Yes, so it seems this is a fine-tuning of the lockup on this sprint - but I'm still a little murky on why this was necessary on this knife, when other Spydercos lock up just fine without it... I have an original Mariner, for instance, that locks up tight as a drum, and there is no co...

Caly 3.5 SB - Wow, then... What's that?

Hi all, Got my Caly 3.5 from Knife Center, and I was really impressed with the workmanship, fit & finish, and the design of course. The blade is centered, ground perfectly, and locks up super tight. The knife seemed flawless, until... I looked at the end of the locking bar that locks against the...

One more bit of grist for the lefty thought-mill - Couldn't a left-hand clip be fashioned for the Persian that would utilize the existing right side holes, by hooking around the tail of the handle, tight to the scales, and over onto the left side? I'd bet it could be done, either by Spyderco as an a...

I'm losing interest in the current trend towards what I would call the "weird" designs - the ones that look like Spyderco is reaching too hard for something new and different, just for the sake of desperately trying to stay in the forefront of revolutionary knife designs, or something like...

I second the Persian. Maybe Spyderco could include a lefty clip with the knife, similar to what CS did with the Rajah series. Exactly! Or sell the lefty clip as an accessory, just have the holes in the knife on the left ready to go. They could even have flush, flat plug screws for the unused holes,...
