The Hole

I really love the spydie hole for quick deployment. Not that I'm looking forward to using it in a self-defensive manner. It's just so much better than the thumb stud of my latest acquisition from a competitor. Oh, and I'm not talking about the little holes. I'm talking about the holes on my Stretch ...

If I get what you're saying, you want to change the angle from 15 to 12 degrees per side using the inclusive 30 degree back bevel guides on the Sharpmaker. I've heard of people putting a book or some object underneath one of the sides of the unit while keeping the knife blade vertical to achieve a ...

Pressure

I've never heard anybody talk about putting anything more than light pressure on the Sharpmaker. I find that when I need to re-profile a blade I use as much force as the thing can take. I clamp the base down and sometimes use two hands! I did this with a 10 inch Chefs knife that was in need of a new ...

I wish. Next time I'm passing through CO - oh yeah, just visiting will make my day. I will most definitely have to pick up a new Spyderco as well.

Strrrrretch FRN

Hi Everybody,

I have a Stainless Stretch. Love it. What's different about the FRN model? Thinking about ordering one. How about the other model with the fancy handle? Does anyone have any pics of all three together? Deacon? Anybody? Money doesn't grow on trees around here so I'm looking at all ...

It seems you've done a fine job grinding. Can't say I appreciate the result. It reminds me of a fillet knife now. The hump imo makes it stronger and gives it character. If you like it that's all that matters. Just had to put my 2 cents into the pot.

Carbuerator cleaner works! After that I used some Brasso Cleaner to polish it up a bit. I kinda like it like this. I did go down to my local Home Depot and bought some liquid rubber. Not sure if this will work. The instructions say if applied properly, it can be removed. Seems like it needs to wrap ...

Question for Deacon about the Stretch

Hey Deacon, and anybody else who can answer this...

Long story short, I decided to peel the rubber off my stretch tonight. It came off quite easily with the exception of some glue that stuck to the handle. I tried some stuff called Krud Kutter to get it off without success. Any suggestions for what ...

Compression lock is my favorite for the reasons already mentioned. My Para-Military is my EDC. The knife is not perfect ergos for me, but the lock makes up for any short comings. Easy to open, easy to close. Love the lock system.

I didn't know Spyderco does this. That would be very cool. Just my last name and a date is what I'd need on there. I figure my knives are probably going to out live me. Might as well have some history to it when they're passed down.

Engraving Blades

Hi Everybody,

Am wondering, it'd be nice to have my initials and date of knife on the blades of my knives. How does one go about it? Does it need to be laser etched? Can I take them to my local trophy shop and have them do the engraving? Is the steel too hard for that?

I didn't realize they have such similar shapes. For the reasons you listed, the UKPK seems like the better choice for me. Although, there's something about the Caly3 that I immediatly appreciate. I carried it for a few months and found it nice for the office and NKP. That said, I like a larger blade ...

Open easy v.s. flicked open

Here are two picks of the lock. The first is how it looks when I open it easy. The second is how it looks when I flick it open. Is this normal?

I used some lube, but it doesn't seem to penetrate into the pivot. Did you have to loosen the pivot to get oil in there?
